[00:00:00] - [Aaron]
I I skipped through most of the whatever episode it was where they introduced the the chef guy because it was just a whole lot of nothing. It was just, like, I forgot what the fuck his stand even was, but I was, like, no. I don't know. I'm not I'm not for this.
[00:00:13] - [Greg]
It was he made Italian food. The episode's called, let's have Italian food. And he just made Italian food that cured your ailments in really horrific gory ways.
[00:00:27] - [Aaron]
Oh, yeah. Didn't it, like, twist oh, fuck. What's the the pee freeze kid? Didn't it, like, twist his spine or something?
[00:00:36] - [Greg]
It, like, twist his spine, it shot a tooth out of his mouth. Yeah. Made his Yep.
[00:00:40] - [Aaron]
It made his skin peel Yeah. Holy shit.
[00:00:43] - [Greg]
That's so good. God, why can't I remember his name? I'm a fake fan. He's a main character. Koichi?
[00:00:54] - [Greg]
Oh, Ookiyasu. It was Okay. There we go. My fan status is recovered. Restored.
[00:01:12] - [Aaron]
Alright. Well, yeah, we're back. It's super ghost again, baby. It's it's
[00:01:16] - [Greg]
just just
[00:01:17] - [Aaron]
the two of us this time though. No Greg, there's no Beth.
[00:01:20] - [Greg]
No, there was a Greg.
[00:01:22] - [Aaron]
There is a fuck. Did I say I meant Jerry. Goddamn it. There's no there's no the g names fucked me up. There's no Jerry and no Beth.
[00:01:30] - [Aaron]
That's what I meant. It's alright. It's alright. Alright. It's just us.
[00:01:35] - [Aaron]
But yeah, it's
[00:01:36] - [Greg]
Just us. The boys are back in town.
[00:01:38] - [Aaron]
They are back in town and I mean, if you're watching us on YouTube, which you should be, Greg is he's a cool vampire guy. Not a not a big titty anime lady this time around. He's a vampire guy with a trying to make out what that broach is. Is it just like a bat? I think it's I think it's bat wings.
[00:01:57] - [Aaron]
That's cool. That's a cool fucking All
[00:01:59] - [Greg]
bat wings and a few roses. Oh, yeah.
[00:02:03] - [Aaron]
I wonder how hard I would need to to dig through like Xi'an or the other the other Chinese shipping app to try to find a a coat just like that for like $80 or something? Honestly,
[00:02:16] - [Greg]
not very hard probably. Some of the some of the clothes I see on like ads and stuff is ridiculous. Like, it's I I find it so funny. It's the most obvious, like, AI fodder I've ever seen, like, advertising clothes that there's no way it exists, and I think, who's buying this? But then I know there's some, like, fucking idiot who's like, oh, yeah.
[00:02:42] - [Greg]
Look at that's look at that coat. That guy looks like that guy looks like a Viking and he's wearing it. It's gotta be good.
[00:02:49] - [Aaron]
He's wearing it out in public at, like, KFC or something. He's doing anime poses.
[00:02:56] - [Greg]
It it ends up looks looking, like, just, like, I don't know, like, some kind of, like, cheap ass coat with no features and some like buckles glued hot glued to it or something.
[00:03:10] - [Aaron]
Hot glued on. Yeah, dude. Oh my god. Wanted the I wanted the Kaibo battle city coat. Instead, all I got was it's just like a like a sport coat with like 80 little metal rings just hot or like Elmer's glued on very It's
[00:03:26] - [Greg]
like a bedsheet with armholes.
[00:03:29] - [Aaron]
Oh. Oh, that's pretty much yeah. That is pretty much it. That's the Kaiba coat. Yugi.
[00:03:35] - [Greg]
And then he opens a Yugi. He opens his his TIMU package. He's like, what the fuck?
[00:03:46] - [Aaron]
You would never catch Kaiba ordering from Timu. That's the other app I was thinking of. God damn it.
[00:03:51] - [Greg]
No way. Kaiba, he just he gets he gets Kaiba core to make that, you know.
[00:03:56] - [Aaron]
He gets his three d no. They get digitized like a three d printed digitized coat.
[00:04:04] - [Greg]
Yeah. All of his clothes are three d printed for sure.
[00:04:08] - [Aaron]
Hell, yeah. Well, listeners, if you if you want other cool three d printed stuff, go well, don't go to super ghost on-site. We don't have three d printed stuff. None of that. None of that.
[00:04:17] - [Aaron]
It's all our episodes and socials, Patreon, all that stuff. It's all there. But Did you happen to catch how many concurrent like, the the the peak the peak number of players that Digimon Storytime Stranger had when it first came out on Steam?
[00:04:38] - [Greg]
I 100 did not. How much was it?
[00:04:41] - [Aaron]
70 k concurrent players on the on Steam.
[00:04:46] - [Greg]
That's crazy. It's like for like a a Digimon game, which I would still call niche. That's pretty wild.
[00:04:52] - [Aaron]
Yeah. And like what is this? So Digimon Survive, that peaked at six k, and then Cyber Sleuth peaked at 3.5 k.
[00:05:03] - [Greg]
So that's
[00:05:04] - [Aaron]
an enormous enormous increase. Oh my god. So it's I'm reading this off of the off of pushsquare.com, which is a Playstation thing. So I guess Well, no. It's still on Steam.
[00:05:17] - [Aaron]
So Digimon Yeah. The new Digimon was behind the likes of Ghost of Yote and Fortnite, of course, and NBA two k 26. So it's pretty fucking high up there if it's only trailing behind Ghost of Yote and like Fortnite and and Roblox and shit.
[00:05:33] - [Greg]
Yeah. That's huge. That's really big. And what's what's also is like to have that kind of player count with like the pricing the way it is.
[00:05:40] - [Aaron]
Oh, To
[00:05:41] - [Greg]
get that game like in Canada, that game is a $100.
[00:05:47] - [Aaron]
And it's it's reviewing really fucking well too. It's apparently It's great.
[00:05:51] - [Greg]
Like
[00:05:52] - [Aaron]
darker and deeper and the story is actually like good and like really well thought out which is great because I didn't give a shit about the story in Cyber Sleuth. Would just tap a to get through all that dialogue all the time.
[00:06:05] - [Greg]
Like, it's like me when I'm playing Hoohomousseme.
[00:06:11] - [Aaron]
Thank you, master. Hoohoo, thank you for trade. Shut
[00:06:14] - [Greg]
up. Skip skip skip skip skip. I have auto skip on and it just turbos throughout the chat.
[00:06:18] - [Aaron]
Oh, man. Thank That's crazy for a Digimon game. I know. It's I I didn't think the game I I felt that Digimon story time stranger was just gonna be like maybe limited to just you, me, and and Beth. Because like anybody else I talked to, they're just like, Digimon, you mean $2 Pokemon?
[00:06:40] - [Aaron]
Like, most of the people just kind of scoff at it, but Great value Pokemon. Yeah. Great value. Yeah. Dollar Tree Pokemon.
[00:06:49] - [Aaron]
Kirkland Signature
[00:06:52] - [Greg]
Pokemon.
[00:06:55] - [Aaron]
Over here with my Birkenstocks that are Pokemon. The the other big piece of news is I mean, surely you've heard of of this one. The the game the game pass price increase, $30 a month in The US. I I'm not I don't know how much it is down in Canada or all up in Canada, I should say, but that's it's fucking it's that's so steep. Holy shit.
[00:07:24] - [Greg]
It it it is it is steep. It is steep. So let me take a look here.
[00:07:30] - [Aaron]
I'll tell you what it what what this shit costs in in in Canadian dollars. While you're doing that, that's $360 a year in The US.
[00:07:42] - [Greg]
So, yeah, it's it's it's $34 in Canada. Okay. Yeah. Which is a nutso for the ultimate. Yeah, man.
[00:07:55] - [Greg]
Like,
[00:07:56] - [Aaron]
I don't I feel like $20.25, that was the sweet spot. For sure, 20 would have been, like, the way to go to keep it at that. But 30 feels
[00:08:08] - [Greg]
Mhmm.
[00:08:08] - [Aaron]
Like and amidst all the backlash, Xbox tried to they had some people out there going, like, oh, we're looking to increase the value of game pass and, like, just a bunch of other, like, fluffy filler words. Like, we're trying to increase the value of it. Like, how though? It's still just Game Pass, like, unless you give us unless you include, like, a Netflix subscription or an Amazon Prime subscription, like
[00:08:37] - [Greg]
Yeah. If it was like if it it was like the the only thing they added is access to, I think, Ubisoft Plus. And Oh, yeah. Based on an earlier conversation, I feel like a lot of people won't won't won't care for that. But that's what they added.
[00:08:55] - [Greg]
What they did is they didn't increase the the value of game pass is they decreased the value of the other tiers of game pass, basically. Because now you only get, like, the bulk of those, like, day and date day one releases on the expensive tier. Okay. I mean, might now that
[00:09:16] - [Aaron]
I'm thinking about it, I don't think I ever really use the because like free to play games, you can play online for free without needing Xbox Live or whatever it's called. I might just maybe decrease mine because I don't even really use the perks that come with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or whatever it's called anymore, which is a mouthful to holy shit. I should just keep saying Game Pass Ultimate or g GPU. There we go. GPU.
[00:09:43] - [Aaron]
Yeah. I might just decrease mine or not decrease. Goddamn it. Tier down? Tier down.
[00:09:49] - [Aaron]
There we go.
[00:09:51] - [Greg]
Because, like, the the premium tier is basically what PlayStation extra costs per month. Like, I broke down my subscription. It's basically the same price. It go it go with with premium. All they had to do was just match the pricing of PlayStation Plus.
[00:10:12] - [Aaron]
You said it's about the same, though?
[00:10:14] - [Greg]
The premium works out to be about the same as my extra subscription. I'm pretty sure. Oh, okay. Really close to it. Really close.
[00:10:21] - [Greg]
Premium tier is it's it it, like, doesn't it it's the same as Ultimate with with less games. Now what games they choose are I'm assuming it's the back like, I'm assuming it's the same as PS Plus in terms of essential x like, the basic extra and premium and the Xbox's essential premium and ultimate. I'm assuming it's the same, whereas the ultimate has, like, all, like, the back catalog and backwards compatibility and, like, the old stuff.
[00:10:54] - [Aaron]
Yeah. I think well, yeah, I think that the there's the very lowest tier of game pass. Yeah. It has, like, a select few and everything, but I think, you know, ultimate you get it includes Xbox online or whatever it's called, and then it also has the other one EA play or whatever it's called. Mhmm.
[00:11:23] - [Aaron]
There's something else that I forget, but yeah, man. $30 a month. I don't know. I don't even I don't think I've really even used Game Pass all that much anymore, if I'm being honest. Like, I usually now, like, my now, they got my Switch two, and there's some things I play on my laptop now, which we'll get to here in a little bit.
[00:11:42] - [Aaron]
There's a big one I've been playing a lot of. Yeah. I haven't used my Xbox in a long fucking time. Well, I I have
[00:11:53] - [Greg]
like, I've I've got an I've got an Xbox Xbox one. I didn't I didn't upgrade to a series. And because I didn't upgrade to a series, I switched basically switched my sub from an ultimate sub to a PC sub, like, years ago. And the the I think the increase it was, a $5 increase, I think, for PC Game Pass is what it got. So I think it was it kinda was, like, $15, and now it's $19.99 is what I'm paying now.
[00:12:24] - [Greg]
I could be wrong. I'm not gonna check my accounting right now, but that's I'm pretty sure what it was. The the best value of the of the game past years now is the is the is the PC the PC one because it's goddamn it. It's it's basic it seems like basically the same as the Ultimate. I can't and it includes things like EA Play, and it's only $19.99.
[00:12:58] - [Greg]
So, yeah, like, PC Game Pass is the buy. And, like, at first because, like, I just checked the pricing of the PC one, I was like, oh, it looks fine. And I didn't list look at any much more in regards to the the actual, like, the console pricing. But, yeah, if you're rocking just an Xbox console, is it fucked right in the ass? I'm doing I'm doing I'm doing a thing that Jerry and Beth have caught me doing once before where when I when I talk about my Xbox, I turn my head to look at it like it's alive.
[00:13:34] - [Greg]
I do it all. So if I'm talking about my Xbox and you hear my voice kind of trail away, it's because I turned my head to look at my Xbox. Like, yes, I'm talking about you. It's okay. Don't worry.
[00:13:45] - [Aaron]
You hear the fancy cons like, like, man. I fuck. With with the base ass Xbox one, like the original one, I remember the the weird, like, power button wasn't the physical button. It was just the touch button. So my cats would always accidentally turn that shit on because they would just graze against it and then, would it be?
[00:14:06] - [Aaron]
It would turn on and then I don't miss that shit
[00:14:09] - [Greg]
at all. No. No. No. No.
[00:14:12] - [Aaron]
That shit's nuts.
[00:14:14] - [Greg]
Yeah. Honestly, I've I've got a I've got like, I don't have a series, but I've got the Xbox one. I've got a PS five. I don't know why
[00:14:22] - [Aaron]
I own them because I never use them.
[00:14:24] - [Greg]
They're just on my on my on my medium. Oh, and I just turned my head to look at at the PS five now because
[00:14:36] - [Aaron]
know yeah. Feel the same way. I have the series x. Like, I started off with the series s, and I was like, oh, hell yeah. It's gonna be my game pass machine.
[00:14:46] - [Aaron]
And then I started going like, oh fuck, maybe I should buy physical games because they'll be cheaper on eBay. And then and then I got the series x, and then now it's just like, well, now why don't I just buy games on switch so I can play wherever I go. It's now buying games just for the Switch and now, yeah, the Xbox is just there for to look pretty, I guess. Same with like I bought a Neo Geo mini, like alright. No, I guess I got it for my birthday a while ago, and it only has the AES versions of games.
[00:15:18] - [Aaron]
So some of them are kind of like weird, but yeah. Now it's just sitting there. It's like a little little decoration.
[00:15:24] - [Greg]
Yep. Yep. Got my media with with decorations and I'll never part with them.
[00:15:29] - [Aaron]
Never. Not even if there's a fucking fire. I'll come back in for those.
[00:15:34] - [Greg]
I'll go grab I'll I'll scoop them both. No. If there's a fire, I'm lugging my PC out. Not my monitors, not anything else. I'm just, like, cradling my giant PC because it was it it's easily the most expensive thing and the thing I'm on the most.
[00:15:49] - [Greg]
So you know what? I can get new monitors if this PC is coming. That's true. No. No.
[00:15:54] - [Greg]
No. I let it burn and claim it in insurance. Hey. There we go.
[00:15:57] - [Aaron]
Oh, there you go. Make a profit off of it. No. No. Not make a profit.
[00:16:02] - [Aaron]
Don't listen to this Progressive.
[00:16:04] - [Greg]
Oh, I mean, like like like like, the things I have, they they can't be replaced anymore because they're it's I've got, like, older hardware in there, so they have to replace it with what's equivalent and available today. Oh, okay. They'll they'll give me the they'll give me the dollar value that I paid for this PC. That's fucking cool. I didn't think that'll Yeah.
[00:16:26] - [Greg]
And then away I go. Away you go. And I'll be like, yeah, I it's an older card, but I had a a forty ninety in my PC. It have to give me the equivalent value.
[00:16:37] - [Aaron]
The sticker's all, like, scratched off. I mean, I guess it'd be all burnt up.
[00:16:41] - [Greg]
It'd be melting.
[00:16:41] - [Aaron]
You're you're like, you're you're going through it. You're like, oh, my you're rattling off like the part number of like a really like the newest one top line. They're like, oh, no. My RTX like 6,200. No.
[00:16:52] - [Aaron]
And they're like, wait, are you sure that's what it was? Yes. Don't look, but yes.
[00:16:57] - [Greg]
Yes. Damn. It's melted. It's been destroyed by the fire. There's no way to tell.
[00:17:04] - [Aaron]
I don't have its dental records.
[00:17:06] - [Greg]
No. No. No. Do you have a receipt? No.
[00:17:10] - [Aaron]
What's this? No. That was
[00:17:12] - [Greg]
my dad's. Can we get can we can we contact the store where you got it from? No. They closed down. I think they're a chain.
[00:17:18] - [Greg]
No. It's a close name, very close name. It's not the same though. Don't look.
[00:17:24] - [Aaron]
It was from the the very last Radio Shack before it closed. Rest in peace. Shit. Did you really?
[00:17:32] - [Greg]
Yeah. The so this is this is a a Canadian tangent for a second. So there was Radio Shack in Canada. It was the same same company. And then the company that so Circuit City bought the Canadian stake of of Radio Shack.
[00:17:54] - [Greg]
And then so Canadian Canadian Radio Shack switched from Radio Shack and became the source by Circuit City. And then when Circuit City went away, we were bought by one of the phone carriers here, and then we were just called The Source. And now we're and then we were we have lost it looks like lost our, more of our Canadian ownership and now well, not we. I don't work there anymore. But and now it's just back it's Best Buy Express now.
[00:18:24] - [Greg]
It's a dead story. Best Buy
[00:18:25] - [Aaron]
Express. Yeah. I don't think I've ever been inside of a of a Radio Shack or Circuit City before. Like, I think I think we used to have one in the town that I I lived in many a year ago, but I've never set foot in it. And I I still don't understand what I mean, I guess that's probably why they're not a thing now because they weren't really any different from Best Buy maybe.
[00:18:50] - [Aaron]
Yeah.
[00:18:50] - [Greg]
I think I think Circuit City is basically just was basically just Best Buy, if if my understanding is correct. I'm pretty sure that's what it was.
[00:18:57] - [Aaron]
Okay.
[00:18:59] - [Greg]
Hell, yeah.
[00:19:01] - [Aaron]
Did you work for Radio Shack up until they closed, or was that just like a like a like a high school thing or something?
[00:19:09] - [Greg]
I worked there for many years. I I Shit. I I joined the company, like, just after the rebrand from Radio Shack to A Source by Circuit City, and then I worked there until I moved from my small town to the big city. Nice. Yep.
[00:19:26] - [Greg]
I made a I made a choice, you know, I could either stayed in in in the small town working my Radio Shack job or take a chance to move to the big city, and I did. And I my first job in the big city was at an EB Games. Oh, I mean And let me tell you, that dog was and that that job was dog water. It's
[00:19:53] - [Aaron]
Oh, man. Here in rural Iowa or maybe it's just a Midwest chain, they have these chain of or this chain of gaming stores called I think it's just called Gamers, like it's just well, it was just called Gamers. And they they were around like the Des Moines area and there was one in like a smallish town, I think it was like maybe thirty forty minutes away from us and we went there and I bought like, oh my god, I bought a copy of Dragon Quest six on the DS, which is still like probably one of the most expensive games on DS. I bought it there for like $30, but so where I was going with the story is like apparently employees were just constantly stealing games from that fucking place because they I I don't know if they were just mismanage. I forgot what the reasoning or I forgot how they got away with it for so long, but the stores eventually had to close because they just they lost so much money because people just would not stop stealing.
[00:20:58] - [Aaron]
They'd have, like, meetings with their staff be like, hey, can you please stop stealing from us? And then the employees would just be right back at it, then then they had to close, and then yeah.
[00:21:10] - [Greg]
It's like my first job was at a pizza place, and all the staff would just get like Coke from the fridge whenever they were they were thirsty, and then this Hell yeah. Then one day, management pulled us aside, and they're like, guys, we're down $15,000 in in soda. And we're like, oh, okay. In the course of, I think, less than a year, the staff had trained 15,000 of pop.
[00:21:41] - [Aaron]
Oh, man. To bring back another job, used to have I used to work at a Caribou Coffee, and we had oh, what is it? It was like a shift drink or like employee drink. I forgot what was called, but like every every shift you work, you get a a free drink. I think it was called a shift drink, and you're supposed to like ring it up in the register or do it like this way, beep boop boop beep, press like a million buttons and shit.
[00:22:04] - [Aaron]
But I would always get like like a small coffee. I'd have like five a day because I was just tired of shit all the time, but I would have four of those day, never ring them up. And then I think years later, once I started watching Bar Rescue and at the parts where Jon Taffer bring up the tablet, he'd be like, this is partender. This is how much money you've lost on booze. Not that I worked at a bar or anything, but he was like, this is how much money you lost on shit not being rung up.
[00:22:33] - [Aaron]
And here I am years later, I'm like, oh, oh, fuck. Like, I I did that that Caribou. Goddamn. So weird. Was watching bar rescue clips yesterday.
[00:22:45] - [Aaron]
Hell, yeah.
[00:22:48] - [Greg]
That show rules. John Tapper is the fucking worst and the best at the same time.
[00:22:53] - [Aaron]
He's like he's like a Caucasian Shrek. He's just like He is.
[00:23:00] - [Greg]
This is this is related. Have you seen Rocky four, the one where he goes to Russia?
[00:23:06] - [Aaron]
Is that is that is that not oh, holy shit. That's not the one where he fights Ivan Drago.
[00:23:12] - [Greg]
Ivan Drago. Yeah. So I don't know you recall. In the mid in the beginning of that movie, it's talking about how rich Rocky is, and he owns a robot. Oh,
[00:23:21] - [Aaron]
yeah. Yeah.
[00:23:21] - [Greg]
Yeah. You know, so he owns this, like, ridiculous, like, eighties vision of, like, a high-tech robot, and it's basically No, know. It looks like a mess. I found out listening to a podcast that where he very proudly announced it, that robot is owned by Jon Taffer now.
[00:23:38] - [Aaron]
Oh, yes. My man, Jon Taffer.
[00:23:41] - [Greg]
He's like, you know that robot? I own that robot.
[00:23:48] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Goddamn it. Oh, John Taffer is so cool. Like, whenever he's not in somebody's face
[00:23:55] - [Greg]
said no one ever. Oh, man. Jon Taffer is so cool.
[00:24:02] - [Aaron]
I just at the end of the episodes when he's, like, showing the bars and he was, like, check out these sweet fucking stools. Why? Look at that real fucking zebra skin. Look at that. Look at how that I had that overnighted by so and so company.
[00:24:16] - [Aaron]
It's, like, bro, that was totally from, like, peer one imports or whatever. Like, you it's just the the dumbest looking fucking stools or, like, check out this sweet glassware. I had that overnighted from this place. Like, dog, you just went to, like, a Hy Vee or something and grabbed that.
[00:24:35] - [Greg]
He he really talks himself up. He's like, I've invented this this pathway. I call it the butt funnel, which is something too. But Yeah. Yep.
[00:24:42] - [Greg]
I
[00:24:42] - [Aaron]
remember that. It's just It's
[00:24:45] - [Greg]
yeah. It's just like a narrow pathway that makes people have to squeeze by and like, I guess, touch butts when they strike up a conversation in his mind.
[00:24:53] - [Aaron]
Yeah, like, no, dude. I'm gonna feel uncomfortable the whole time. It's just gonna be like dudes rubbing dicks together, like, you're gonna start a fire or something, man. That's not that's not a very good, like, yeah.
[00:25:05] - [Greg]
Oh. I remember there's my like, biggest indictment on on Jon Taffer is there's the episode where there's that pirate bar, and everyone really loves the pirate theme. And he's like Yes. He's like, you'll never make money with a pirate bar. And he turns it into a a bar that was literally called the corporate.
[00:25:23] - [Greg]
It's like Yep. It was all, like, minimalist auster, and, like, everybody hated it. And he's like, now you'll make money.
[00:25:32] - [Aaron]
And it fucking didn't.
[00:25:34] - [Greg]
It didn't I think it closed immediately. No. I think it went back to their pirate theme immediately. One of the two. Maybe both.
[00:25:42] - [Aaron]
I love those. I love those types of episodes where he's like, like, alright, you you wanna make money? You're gonna change your he's holding him by like the collar. He's like, you wanna make money? Yes, John Taffer, sir.
[00:25:52] - [Aaron]
Yes. Okay. He he like pumps all his money into their bar, completely changes the bar. He's like, alright, this is how you make money. And then like the very next fucking day, they'll they'll have changed the the bar back to whatever it was.
[00:26:05] - [Aaron]
They're like, yeah. I'm not feeling it. Enough about Jon Taffer. What's are you still playing Hades two or are you playing something else at
[00:26:25] - [Greg]
the moment? I am I'm I'm mostly playing Hades two, but I I I went back into and got back into Uma Musume. I'd I'd I'd I'd missed a bit and I'm a little bit I'm little bit sad because like I missed some of, like, the event stuff because the events are fast and furious in Ubuntu Musume. So, like, I'm I'm get giving this attention now because, like, I don't wanna miss some of these, some of these pulls, some of these characters. I don't wanna miss them.
[00:26:53] - [Greg]
I gotta gotta get back into it, you know.
[00:26:56] - [Aaron]
You mentioned Fast and Furious, and my brain immediately thought of, like, what if they did a Fast and Furious crossover in Uma Musume? Like, they had I couldn't think of his fucking name. I don't know why, but they had him and they have like Paul Walker and they're like sprinting as fast as they can down the track. Family. Family.
[00:27:21] - [Greg]
God, that'd be cool. I might I might finally crack my wallet open for trying to see because it has steam achievements, and I wanna see if I finally, oh, did I do no. Which one are you missing? I'm I'm still missing exactly one achievement. I think it must be broken.
[00:27:39] - [Greg]
It's so hard to check. I'm missing play team trials 500 times. Goddamn. That's a lot. And, like, you can do I do five a day, so I'll get it.
[00:27:54] - [Greg]
And then I will be able to say that based on 3% 33% of player I'm one of the 3% of players who've flattened this game. Oh, yeah. That's an accomplishment though. Is. Hundred and fifteen hours of my life is in this game.
[00:28:11] - [Aaron]
My brain has now gone into overdrive trying to cook up more Uma Musume crossovers. So for sure, we got fast and furious. What if they had, like, a super monkey ball crossover? That'd be cool. We have, like, eye eye in this little monkey ball running down the track.
[00:28:25] - [Aaron]
Was I just thinking about the steel ball run Jojo? You have them on their horses going down? That'd be cool.
[00:28:35] - [Greg]
Hell yeah. Hell yeah.
[00:28:36] - [Aaron]
That's it for me. I can't think of anymore.
[00:28:40] - [Greg]
Yeah. That and then who it doesn't need to have a reason. Crossword anyway. Crossword was Capcom. Yeah.
[00:28:46] - [Greg]
They they throw Resident Evil into everything. Get the Resident Evil. Get eight zero one horse girl.
[00:28:51] - [Aaron]
Go nemesis running down there.
[00:28:53] - [Greg]
Nemesis horse girl.
[00:28:55] - [Aaron]
Oh, nemesis. Absolutely do. He's got a little like a little horse little horse ears on like a headband on his head. Exactly. That'd be
[00:29:04] - [Greg]
cool. It's so funny. So my top five most played games by hours on Steam are and the first one is is far and away. I almost shouldn't count it, but it's I've got Final Fantasy 14, Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate three, Cyberpunk, and then a number five, Uma Musume, pretty derpy.
[00:29:26] - [Aaron]
Oh. What are the what are the hour counts look like? You don't have to share if you don't want to, but
[00:29:31] - [Greg]
Oh, no. I don't care. Final Fantasy or clocking in, this is why I didn't want to count it because that's at three thousand four hundred and seventy hours. Goddamn. Yep.
[00:29:42] - [Greg]
It's a very good game. And then in second place is Elderling with two hundred and nine two hundred and twelve hours. Goddamn Just to show out the disparity. And then you got Baldur's Gate three with a 182, Cyberpunk with a 159, and Uma Musume with a 115.
[00:30:05] - [Aaron]
It's getting there. It's almost It's getting there. I'm I'm trying to look up my games on Xbox, see if I have see if there's a way to show, like, sort games by By playtime? I don't know.
[00:30:19] - [Greg]
Let's see. I've
[00:30:21] - [Aaron]
got a hundred and nine days, nine hours, and twenty two minutes. So that's where's my calculator at?
[00:30:31] - [Greg]
109
[00:30:33] - [Aaron]
times 24, 2,616. Let see how
[00:30:40] - [Greg]
many days I played Final Fantasy four.
[00:30:44] - [Aaron]
It was like three thousand, you said? Three thousand hours?
[00:30:47] - [Greg]
Three thousand four hundred and seventy and a half. So I've played let's round up a hundred and forty five days of Final Fantasy 14.
[00:30:55] - [Aaron]
Fuck yeah, dude. So I tried to detox myself from Hades two because I played it for almost like a week straight. And I went on a big binge of like, I bought the a bunch of games from the company Siaktro. They make, like, Tori three d, Super Kiwi 64. I don't know if you've heard of any of these games before, but I'm saying their names anyway.
[00:31:21] - [Aaron]
Say them.
[00:31:22] - [Greg]
I haven't, but continue. Okay.
[00:31:24] - [Aaron]
Yeah. They're like retro inspired games. They're pretty goddamn short. I think so I beat on Friday, I I played through this game called beanie, and it's just this fat b roll around. It took me like fifteen minutes to complete.
[00:31:42] - [Aaron]
It's only it's only nine stages. So I breezed through that, got that done, and I moved on to fuck. What is the name? Oh, super Kiwi 64. It's like a like an n 64 style, like, collectathon platform where you run around as a Kiwi, and you're collecting power cells and stuff.
[00:32:06] - [Aaron]
That took me, like, maybe, like, an hour. And after that, I was like, dude, kinda done with this. And have you heard of the game Mega Bonk?
[00:32:16] - [Greg]
Oh, I know. I've heard of Mega Bonk.
[00:32:18] - [Aaron]
Okay. Okay. Well, I guess I I have put it in the chat a couple times as well too, but, yeah, I've I basically I said I wanted to detox myself from Hades. I basically traded like I went to EB Games, traded in my crack rocks for store credit, used that store credit and bought like heroin, and I I started playing mega bonk, and I can't put that shit down. Hell, yeah.
[00:32:41] - [Aaron]
Probably the easiest way to explain it to anyone that hasn't heard of it, it's like if Risk of Rain two fused with vampire survivors, because you'll it's it's three d like Risk of Rain two. You can run around, you can jump, and like like vampire survivors, your character will automatically shoot out their attacks every so often based on what their attack speed or whatever is. And there's different characters that start off with different weapons and they have unique passive abilities like, usually it's just like well, there's this fox wizard who gains I think it's like plus one luck every level. There's a a knight who gains like plus one armor every level or something like that. And then you go full crazy mode, and there's there's this skateboarding skeleton named calcium.
[00:33:31] - [Aaron]
And his thing is he's got cool shades, by the way, too. I forgot to mention that. His thing is that he his he he his damage is based off of his speed, and his speed increases over time. Alright. If you get hit, his speed is halved.
[00:33:51] - [Aaron]
So you have to wait to, like, build your speed back up. Therefore, you build your power back up. So, basically, just don't stop moving ever. Like, don't get hit. Jump over everything.
[00:34:01] - [Aaron]
Do kick flips all the all the time over everything, then you'll be good. And, yeah, the weapons are pretty cool. Like, there's just like a fireball staff, a thunder staff, but then there's there's this item called the the wireless dagger where it's just like a dagger or it's an electric dagger that'll, like, home in on enemies. You have your regular ass sword, but there's also oh, what is it called? It's like this rocks that, like, orbit around you and damage enemies.
[00:34:29] - [Aaron]
I think it's just called chunkers. It's nuts. It it's it's so hard to put down. I'm always like, dude, I could like, if I do one more run, I could unlock this weapon or, like, I'm two kills away from unlocking this, like, ogre or whatever. Like, there's just there's so much shit to unlock, and I just it's it's I don't know.
[00:34:53] - [Aaron]
It's it's just so cathartic or not cathartic. I don't know what the word is, but it's just it's so, like Cathartic works? You know? Yeah. Cathartic.
[00:35:02] - [Aaron]
That is you know? Okay. Relaxing. Yeah. Just turning your brain off
[00:35:05] - [Greg]
and you basically just just
[00:35:08] - [Aaron]
don't get hit. That's all you need to do. Just don't get hit, grab items, and just build the best unstoppable killing engine there is, and it's mega bonk.
[00:35:18] - [Greg]
Yeah. I mean, it it so, like, a lot of those concepts seem actually do seem similar similar to Hades two as well. You know? Can you set up your perfect build and doing your best to not get hit?
[00:35:32] - [Aaron]
The oh, and then yeah. Yeah. You unlock more stuff just like Hades two. So, yeah, again, I traded I traded crack rocks for heroin. I traded
[00:35:40] - [Greg]
Yep.
[00:35:41] - [Aaron]
I traded already very addictive drug for another probably way more addictive drug.
[00:35:47] - [Greg]
Way more addictive drug?
[00:35:48] - [Aaron]
Because with Mega Bunk, I don't have to, like, time my attacks or, like, dodge or anything like that. I just I just tap the jump button wherever I'm going and try to find the boss portal and just shit shit just dies around me.
[00:36:03] - [Greg]
When you were playing Hades, did you get to the the main boss on Olympus? Did you get to it and did you beat it? Is
[00:36:13] - [Aaron]
when I when I went through Olympus, I got all the way to Prometheus. Is he the last boss there? He there is one after. Fuck. No.
[00:36:21] - [Aaron]
I I I've gone to Prometheus, like, twice, and I always end up fucking it up when he, like, does that thing where he flies to the foreground.
[00:36:30] - [Greg]
And you have to you have to memorize the pattern?
[00:36:32] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Yeah. I always fuck that up because, like, toward the end of the battle, it just gets way too confusing.
[00:36:38] - [Greg]
Like, that that battle, that fight, I think, like, I I was able to master it because it is the mechanics in that are exactly like many Final Fantasy 14 fights. So, so, like, that fight started. It's like, I know this. And was and that kind of, like, unlocked my mind. The boss afterwards, though, is is a is a doozy.
[00:37:04] - [Greg]
And I won't spoil what it is, but you can't see its health bar. And it's just you just it's just it's it's really, really freaking hard, and that's, my new thing. Cronos? Like, Cronos is a bitch now. I don't I don't care about Cronos.
[00:37:17] - [Greg]
But that fight, oh, she's tough, but I'm gonna get it. I'm gonna get it soon.
[00:37:25] - [Aaron]
I I need to get back to Hades too. I
[00:37:31] - [Greg]
Yeah. I think go ahead. What what Beth Beth was telling me that, so did you use the like I'm gonna call it the skull grenade launcher very much?
[00:37:42] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Actually, I got the I forget which which aspect of it. It's it's the one where like when you use your attacks, it like builds up into your hand and you can dash through the enemies and detonate it. Like, I always get really far with that one. That's my favorite aspect.
[00:37:56] - [Greg]
I think I think that is right now the the best weapon in the game, like that specific aspect. Oh, hell yeah. Okay. I have I have not tried it, but I've I've I've seen some content creators, and they've all said kind of the same thing. That right now is is the best aspect.
[00:38:11] - [Greg]
It's the aspect of Madea. Yeah.
[00:38:17] - [Aaron]
Oh, that's right. My mind instantly went to Tyler Perry. Mine did as well. I that one's cool because, like, you don't have to worry about really upgrading your basic attacks because I don't I mean, I I put everything into specials, you know, special aspect, do, you know, the upgraded specials from chaos and, yeah, whatever. Just put it all put it all on Neptune pretty much.
[00:38:44] - [Greg]
The so I found a one of the hammer upgrades for the skull is it just makes it auto retrieve. Oh, yeah. Mhmm. That one that's so it feels so busted because you basically have like a grenade machine gun. Yeah, dude.
[00:39:01] - [Greg]
Because you never have to stop firing. It's fantastic.
[00:39:05] - [Aaron]
I love
[00:39:05] - [Greg]
that that one from like my least favorite weapon to like maybe my most favorite weapon. It's what's cool about
[00:39:12] - [Aaron]
the skull too with with that or with that deadalis upgrade. You can fire off your omega attack, and then while you're waiting for that to plop down, you just, know, fire off a whole bunch of skulls as many as you can and then mushroom clouds the enemies. Right. Exactly. Goddamn it.
[00:39:30] - [Aaron]
Yeah. The skull I think the skull with the media aspect is my favorite so far. Like, I I got the Artemis aspect on the the sister blades or no. Yeah. Sister blades, and that one's kind of cool because, like, you hold down you'll charge down your mega attack or omega whatever.
[00:39:50] - [Aaron]
You'll charge down your mega attack, and, like, while you're doing that, you have a chance for enemies to like when they attack you, they'll charge up like a riposte. Yeah. How do you say it? I forget it. Reposte.
[00:40:04] - [Aaron]
Reposte. Yeah. They'll charge up I think like up to three of those and then when you let go, you'll do more damage or or whatever. That shit's good.
[00:40:12] - [Greg]
The I like the other one of the sister blades, the one that if they're inside of one of your cast circles, it makes all of your projectiles home in on them. Oh, shit. That's what the o one does. It's it's it's it's pretty nasty. It's Holy shit.
[00:40:27] - [Greg]
And then, like yeah. So as long as someone's in the cast circle and you do, like, your charged, like, your charged special, you'll just, like, instead of being a a fan, they will all just, like, pony missile onto whatever's in in that circle. It's it's a lot of fun.
[00:40:40] - [Aaron]
They could be pretty broken with the with what you call the Hephaestus upgraded cast or special or both.
[00:40:50] - [Greg]
Yeah. I was playing my so my favorite one is the the Thanatos aspect Scythe. Because when you max it out, it does plus 45% attack speed. So it goes from being a a heavy damage slow weapon to being a heavy damage fast weapon, and it's it's it's, like, goofy fun. I found out yesterday, though, that there's hidden aspects as well that you can unlock.
[00:41:17] - [Greg]
I had no idea that if you just talk to some if you just talk to some people, they'll be, like they'll just give you an aspect for the weapon, like, there's, like and they Fuck? And they I think some of them, like like, behave completely differently. Like, there's a, like, I think it's is it I think it's Cersei gives you, like, a different set, staff aspect. And then there's there's, like, there's there's one extra aspect for every weapon, and some of them, like, seem pretty nutty. Oh, god damn it.
[00:41:47] - [Greg]
Just when you think you're out. Man. I
[00:41:53] - [Aaron]
wish I hadn't started Mega Bonk because, yeah, I I really wanna go back to Hades, but I
[00:41:58] - [Greg]
also can't stop playing Mega Bonk. Hades isn't going anywhere. That's true. It'll be there waiting for you, and it's not like an online game where you have to, like, keep up, you know?
[00:42:08] - [Aaron]
But, like, after I put, like, two thousand hours into mega bonk, I'll finally get back to Hades too. I had to blow the dust off of it. Well, I'm back, old girl.
[00:42:20] - [Greg]
That's how I felt going back to my horses because it after a few days, like
[00:42:24] - [Aaron]
Don't worry, girls, I'm back. The door creaks open slowly. I'm back, girl.
[00:42:31] - [Greg]
Where where were we? Makes me sound like a predator. I'm back. Oh, home.
[00:42:42] - [Aaron]
Have you gotten all the trinkets yet?
[00:42:45] - [Greg]
No, I haven't. I haven't. So I think a fair feeling we're gonna be, like, god trinkets. There's a few NPCs that I keep forgetting to, like, give a gift to when I see, like, those occasional ones, like, I was like, Athena will sometimes show up in Olympus. I I don't I don't think to, like, oh, let me give you a a gift.
[00:43:03] - [Greg]
Like and I encountered another NPC who I haven't seen in Olympus or in this whole game, and I forgot to give a gift. Girl? Oh, no. No. No.
[00:43:14] - [Greg]
No. No. It's spoilers. Three, two, one. It's Ares.
[00:43:20] - [Greg]
I forgot to give him Oh, shit. A gift. It's like Goddamn. So I think what they did was, like, I think it was pretty common knowledge that, like, the strongest gods in Hades one were Athena and Ares, and then often have comboed together. So I think they purposely, in this game, made them as, like, and Artemis.
[00:43:41] - [Greg]
So the three of those are, like, occasional like, they'll show up occasionally, but you can't have them every time. To give you give you a taste of those abilities just to, like, wet your whistle with those old Aries abilities, but, yeah, I always forget to give them the gifts.
[00:43:56] - [Aaron]
Yeah. I always have at least I always make sure to have at least two or two nectars before I go on a run because I think Mhmm. I still need to give one to to, I guess, more spoilers. If you want Cerberus, I I I need to give Cerberus one.
[00:44:13] - [Greg]
No.
[00:44:15] - [Aaron]
I think I gave one to the echo girl, actually. And I haven't come I haven't I only have come across Ares or Athena yet. I don't know who the fuck else there is. I haven't given one to. I think I have, like, pretty much the whole bottom row.
[00:44:30] - [Aaron]
I mean, maybe a couple spots filled, but pretty much the whole bottom row is is empty. Did he
[00:44:35] - [Greg]
give one to all the other gods?
[00:44:38] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Like Hephaestus and Demeter and all them. Yeah. And Circe, Oh, I haven't given a Dionysus yet. I forgot about him.
[00:44:49] - [Aaron]
He hangs dong in the game, by the way. That's pretty cool.
[00:44:52] - [Greg]
Yep. He nearly hangs dong. Like, you can't load the game and see his cock almost, but no no no godly hogs in this game. Not yet. That's
[00:45:05] - [Aaron]
From modders. Little conversation was pretty funny. He was like, you come across him in this like tavern or bar or whatever. He's like, Zag, man. What's what happened to you?
[00:45:15] - [Aaron]
You look a little different. And it's just like, no. I'm I'm his sister. He's like, woah. Really?
[00:45:21] - [Aaron]
He was like, poly shoring that whole fucking conversation like, yeah, man. I don't like I don't really care about war, you know, man. I'm more about like partying, man, like
[00:45:34] - [Greg]
I just wanna I just wanna party and do other things in my bathhouse.
[00:45:37] - [Aaron]
Yeah. That's yeah. That's the whole fucking convo with him. Yeah. He's cool.
[00:45:44] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Can relate.
[00:45:44] - [Greg]
I didn't give I did not give him a gift. I need to give him his gift. Did he give a gift to Chaos? Yep. Chaos.
[00:45:56] - [Greg]
Chaos might have my favorite my favorite boon. Just it's so it's, like, it's consistently good.
[00:46:06] - [Aaron]
What's what's theirs again? Is is that No. If you if you level up
[00:46:11] - [Greg]
the chaos boon, it will I think every eight encounters, it'll keep it'll switch back and forth from, like, high rarity chaos enchantments. Oh, okay. And chaos enchantments are always, like, some of the strongest stuff, so it's just, like Yeah. A high level chaos enchantment for free every time, and it's good.
[00:46:35] - [Aaron]
And is it does it come without the oh, do you clear four encounters with all?
[00:46:39] - [Greg]
None of that. There's none of that there. Yeah. You just just get it. Now, you have to level it up to get like the the max value, but it doesn't take that long.
[00:46:47] - [Aaron]
Yeah. I like I don't know if you got the one from Icarus. His is pretty cool though. I don't
[00:46:53] - [Greg]
get it. I don't remember what it is though.
[00:46:55] - [Aaron]
You start off with a random Daedalus hammer upgrade, and then after, like, nine or 10 encounters, it'll reroll into a different one, which is still cool. Like, it's free upgrade. Yeah.
[00:47:10] - [Greg]
Yeah. I like that's almost something like I would like I would start a run with and then switch it out at after the the first Guardian.
[00:47:19] - [Aaron]
Oh, yeah. Just to get
[00:47:20] - [Greg]
that that that free sweet upgrade.
[00:47:23] - [Aaron]
Yep. I usually do that with the I love the little bell that makes you take and do more damage, and I'll switch that off to I can't remember what it even was. It was one that I just got. It was the one from the Echo Girl.
[00:47:38] - [Greg]
Oh, It's
[00:47:41] - [Aaron]
the concave stone. Yeah. And what does it what it do? I like how the trinkets in Hades too are more like a lot of them are are one well, all a lot of them, if not all of them, are like one time use type things. So when you do get to a new area, you pretty much do have to switch them off for a different one.
[00:48:01] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Instead of using the same one like all the time, like using the the lucky tooth all the time or something.
[00:48:07] - [Greg]
Mhmm. That shit's cool. Alright. Echo is after choosing a boon randomly, there's a random chance to choose one more.
[00:48:14] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Yep. That's what it was.
[00:48:16] - [Greg]
But it only works once per night.
[00:48:18] - [Aaron]
Yep. And I would get that I'll get that during whenever I was doing the the runs to go beat Cronos. I would have that during Oceanus because I could just breeze through that. And with that one Medea boon, I could just breeze right through the Silla fight. She ain't shit anymore, dude.
[00:48:38] - [Aaron]
I know. It's like all these bosses that
[00:48:39] - [Greg]
give us trouble are now, like, fucking jokes. Fucking trash.
[00:48:45] - [Aaron]
Oh, it's especially like with the with the Hera boons. Hers are really good too. Like the what is it? Yeah. The your your cast inflicts nearby enemies or whatever with with Hitch, and then they also take a little bit of damage.
[00:48:59] - [Aaron]
They'll just plop that down on somebody and then just go beat the piss out of whoever else. Yeah. Hitch is pretty I like Hitch.
[00:49:06] - [Greg]
It's pretty pretty cool. It's just good. I mean, there's there's few things in the game that I would say are, like, bad, you know? Everything everything is generally pretty good.
[00:49:17] - [Aaron]
Oh, yeah. There's some that I don't use very often, like the the ones from Poseidon that are, like, oh, sometimes you'll get more gold or, like, more more whatever. Like, I don't use that very often, though.
[00:49:30] - [Greg]
No. No. For sure. I generally, like, I didn't really use the the the Zeus one, any of the Zeus stuff too much. But then I found out that, like, the because I I saw this day, like, the the like, I think that one of the top builds is, like, the Medea skull with the Zeus attack buff, and it's apparently just ridiculous.
[00:49:53] - [Greg]
That's what unlocks its damage to, like, the next level.
[00:49:57] - [Aaron]
I guess I could see that. Like, whenever you use a basic an enemy is hit with whatever the fuck it's called.
[00:50:06] - [Greg]
What even is it called? It's not just It's just just the regular, like, attack. Oh, like, it it's his his attack of everyone I forget what they're called. But I think the explosions when you that trigger when you use the special on that weapon, I think they must be counted as attack, and then that's why it's good for that that aspect.
[00:50:26] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Because, like, when you because your attacks will just they'll stay on you Yeah. And they'll they'll detonate after three seconds or or until you use your special. So, basically, you'll get, like four bursts of damage from all of your attacks plus your special, all one gigantic fucking like, one gigantic blast because you'll dash across the screen.
[00:50:52] - [Greg]
I'm gonna try to get that going tonight. As soon as this is done, I'm gonna try to get that going.
[00:50:57] - [Aaron]
It's so good. It's especially with the Hephaestus stuff, it's nuts. Mhmm. I know you're a huge fighting game fan, and I I kind of kind of dabble with them. I'm not the best at a lot of fighting games, but, you know, I wanted to pick your brain a little bit.
[00:51:23] - [Aaron]
What are
[00:51:24] - [Greg]
Yeah, man.
[00:51:24] - [Aaron]
If it if it doesn't I mean, if it's not too much, what what are your your top five fighting games of all time?
[00:51:32] - [Greg]
Of all time? Yeah. Top five of all time. Let me think.
[00:51:40] - [Aaron]
Yeah. So I I should have asked you earlier so
[00:51:41] - [Greg]
you have
[00:51:42] - [Aaron]
time to come
[00:51:42] - [Greg]
up with this. I would have prepared something. Okay. Let me think. Right.
[00:51:46] - [Greg]
So off the dome, it's it's gonna be gonna be controversial. So I play I've played fighting games all of my life. Mhmm. But in in the actual, like, fighting game community, I'm what they would call an o niner, which is someone who really started playing when Street Fighter four came out in 02/2009.
[00:52:02] - [Aaron]
Oh, okay.
[00:52:04] - [Greg]
So that's when I'd, like, started to take it, like, serious and had a lot of fun and and played a lot more seriously in was when Street Fighter four came out. So my personal number one is going to be super Street Fighter four, not vanilla, not ultra, specifically super strike Super Street Fighter four arcade edition. That's even though the balance was not the greatest, it never is. And that I just have so many, like, good fun, like, core memories of. Like, Street Fighter, like, is is, like, in my blood.
[00:52:45] - [Greg]
I've been playing it all my life, but Street Fighter four is when I, like, got consistent friends who were good at it, and we would like, literally, every weekend, we would go to somebody's house and just play Street Fighter four for hours. And it was some of the best the best memories of my life is weekends playing Street Fighter. Hell, yeah. It's also the first the first game where I, like, I entered my first competitive tournament, went o and two, but had a good time all all the same. So my my number one is gonna be Street Fighter four.
[00:53:19] - [Greg]
My number two is going to be let me think. Oh, that's I don't think hard. It's gonna be Capcom versus SNK two. Oh. The game is so fucking good.
[00:53:35] - [Greg]
It's it's it's in the running, I would say, in the conversation, at least, or best fighting games ever made, CBS two. Just got rereleased with a Capcom fighting collection with with rollback net code and good online. Recommend everyone play it or, you know, download Fightcade and play it there because it is, again, one of the the best fighting games of all time, one of my favorites. And deserves deserves a lot of credit because it's the introduction for a lot of people into, like, SNK Yeah. SNK characters because there are a bunch of people who are just, you know, like, Capcom heads, don't know any other fighting games outside of Capcom, and then it's like, oh, who's who's Terry Bogart?
[00:54:20] - [Greg]
He's wearing a hat. And then you pick him, and you hear him speaking the English, and it's like Are you okay?
[00:54:27] - [Aaron]
Or whatever You okay?
[00:54:29] - [Greg]
You okay? Buster wolf. Like, it's
[00:54:33] - [Aaron]
It's fucking his voice lines from Smash Bros are so good too. He'd be like, tore away.
[00:54:41] - [Greg]
Barnaker. It's yeah. CBS two, that was a game that I first played because my cousin had it, and then I I just played it and played it, then me and my brothers got it, and we just played the shit out of that. Like, it's, again, one of probably one of the best fighting games ever made in the CBS two.
[00:55:00] - [Aaron]
Yes.
[00:55:01] - [Greg]
Love a crossover. Number three is I'm going to say, I'm gonna pick something that's not Capcom.
[00:55:12] - [Aaron]
Soul Calibur two? Yes. Oh, my God. I was so hoping you would say this. Hell yeah.
[00:55:17] - [Aaron]
Soul Calibur two is a great game. Played a
[00:55:19] - [Greg]
lot of that. If I'm being honest, played more Soul Calibur three and four. I never actually owned two, but I owned the But follow Soul Calibur is is a ton of fun. Honestly, even the newest one is what was good. It just it I don't think it was marketed very well, and they were really putting betting all their chips on having Geralt in the game, getting people to pick that up, but I don't think it was enough.
[00:55:45] - [Aaron]
Yeah. I think Soulcalibur is one of, if not, probably like my my most consistently played fighting game series because like from from two onward, I guess except for the latest one, which I think was six, like Yeah. Two three four and five, I've played the piss out of those especially especially three. No. Yeah.
[00:56:07] - [Aaron]
Three because it had that like RTS mode.
[00:56:11] - [Greg]
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
[00:56:12] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Yeah. Chronicles of the sword or something that was so much fucking fun.
[00:56:15] - [Greg]
It was probably called something like that. Yeah. Yeah. That that one is that one's an all timer. I I fucking love Soul Calibur.
[00:56:28] - [Greg]
Soul Calibur is, like, one of also, like, I would say the most accessible fighting games, like, this complexity there, but you can also just, like, pick up a controller and have fun doing wacky shit in Soul Caliber.
[00:56:39] - [Aaron]
Oh, yeah. Especially the ring outs. Oh my god. Yeah. The ring outs are so good.
[00:56:47] - [Aaron]
Let's see. Street Fighter three Third Strike. Oh.
[00:56:51] - [Greg]
It's a game that is a ton of fun. I'm not great at it. Yeah. But I love Third Strike. It's so fun.
[00:56:57] - [Greg]
And, like, visually, one of the best looking sprite based two d fighters that are that are out there.
[00:57:05] - [Aaron]
It's got a really fucking good soundtrack too. Like the Amazing soundtrack. The character select. And then it's like the
[00:57:16] - [Greg]
Let's get it on now. Make the rat pick.
[00:57:18] - [Aaron]
Yeah. That's what it was. Yeah. Take your first pick. Get it on now.
[00:57:22] - [Aaron]
Ten nine eight seven six. Six. Now it now it's rolling in my brain.
[00:57:28] - [Greg]
So good. The whole soundtrack is untouchable. It's fantastic. Third strike's great. What's that?
[00:57:35] - [Greg]
Four? Yes. And then number five, mean, honor honorable mentions. Honorable mentions, I'm gonna go to, DOA two hardcore. Yes.
[00:57:49] - [Greg]
Fucking love that game. That game was so much fun. Again, one of those games that me and my brothers, played the shit out of. Just love DOA two hardcore. The follow ups didn't really capture the same kind of magic, but, like, that one there was sensational.
[00:58:05] - [Greg]
And then, Mortal Kombat x having one of the best single player stories in a fighting game. It might be the first video game that like, a fighting game that had actually a proper, like, single player story mode that was actually, like, had time that wasn't just, like, arcade mode with an ending. You know? It was, like it was they took it seriously. And then, you know, before the three d players, you know, fight me, Tekken Tekken series, Tekken three.
[00:58:36] - [Greg]
Fantastic.
[00:58:37] - [Aaron]
Tekken yeah. Tekken three is so good.
[00:58:40] - [Greg]
People aren't happy with Tekken eight right now because of some, like, balancing changes they made, but listen, guys, you're being too serious. It's still a fun game. Still a fun game. And I guess my number five, fighting game is going to be, I'm gonna say this is a niche pick, but KOF 13. Oh.
[00:59:03] - [Greg]
Is it the best is it the best KOF? No. Not by a long shot. Is it my favorite KOF? Yes.
[00:59:09] - [Greg]
Because it has some of the best models. It has models so good, it nearly bankrupted SNK. They put so much money into the look of that game and then it didn't sell at all and it almost destroyed that company. Oh, man. Is that
[00:59:29] - [Aaron]
no, that's not the newest one, is it? That's that's 15.
[00:59:32] - [Greg]
Also very good. Oh, that
[00:59:33] - [Aaron]
was the okay. This one was the March. Alright. Yeah. I I had no idea this one existed for the longest time until I looked through the the backwards compatible games on the newest Xboxes like a couple of years ago.
[00:59:48] - [Aaron]
Mhmm. It looks really fucking good. And what's I'm a big fan of King of Fighters '98. I think it's Mhmm. Let me let me let me double check that.
[01:00:00] - [Aaron]
I'm pretty sure it's '98.
[01:00:01] - [Greg]
'98 is the one that is Final edition. Yeah. Yeah. That's the one that everybody loves. So Slugfest.
[01:00:11] - [Greg]
Yeah. Kingfighters is good. It's the opposite of Soulcalibur. We talk about barrier to entry.
[01:00:17] - [Aaron]
It's Oh my god. Yeah. Yeah. I remember it's back back in my three sixty days, I was giving up Soul Caliber for a little bit. I forget why, and I tried to immediately jump into Marvel versus Capcom sorry, Ultimate Marvel versus Capcom three.
[01:00:36] - [Aaron]
The the the redone version that included was it Phoenix Wright and a bunch of other people. Mhmm. I got my ass kicked over and over, but that game was really really fucking cool like Marvel Marvel's Capcom is fucking great. I I don't recall if I ever played the because they had Marvel versus Capcom two on March for a little while. Mhmm.
[01:01:02] - [Aaron]
I don't think I got into Marvel versus Capcom two until maybe like like a few years ago, but I think that one is up there on my on my top five list. Marvel versus Capcom two, I mean. Yeah.
[01:01:15] - [Greg]
Art style great.
[01:01:17] - [Aaron]
Oh, the art style and the music are so good and just the sheer amount of characters, if you're playing on the the Dreamcast version.
[01:01:24] - [Greg]
Let me take you for a ride. Fucking
[01:01:31] - [Aaron]
track.
[01:01:32] - [Greg]
The Dreamcast version is the version of Plague. So I'm pretty sure the Dreamcast version is the one that's arcade perfect.
[01:01:38] - [Aaron]
Yep. And it has it has that after you play, you you earn points and you can spend those points to unlock new characters and shit. The arcade version has none of that. It just has, like, has I don't think that that many less characters in the Dreamcast version, but, like, the ones that are missing are, like, pretty fucking big deal. I can't think of what characters were locked in in in MBC two.
[01:02:07] - [Aaron]
I think for sure Mega Man was one of them, like you had to unlock him. And what's his face? Silver no. Not Silver Samurai or like white wait.
[01:02:22] - [Greg]
Silver Samurai. Yes. Silver Samurai is it.
[01:02:24] - [Aaron]
Silver Samurai. Yeah. He was one of my one of my mains, and of course, Venom. Goddamn, I gotta go Venom, and Iceman. Iceman is good shit too.
[01:02:38] - [Greg]
MVC two also a game that has been recently re released. So you if so, like, just like CBS two, it has re released with with a good rollback netcode, played online. Are they both on the There's two separate, Capcom fighting collections. Maybe even more than that, but one has CBS two and one has, Marvelous Capcom.
[01:03:01] - [Aaron]
Before I forget, have you ever dabbled with Darkstalkers at all?
[01:03:05] - [Greg]
A little bit. A little bit. I when it was re released on, like, PS three three sixty, I downloaded it and, yeah, I played a little bit. It was it it was it was a good time. I had I had fun.
[01:03:16] - [Greg]
I just don't think I was, like, in in the the right personal space to accept it Yeah. At that time. But, like, I played it, had a good enough time, but moved on pretty quickly.
[01:03:27] - [Aaron]
I played a little bit of the I think the first two games, I forget if it was also on the the backwards compatibility on Xbox one, but I dabbled with those just a little bit. And, yeah, I'm not very good at them, but, the they used the fish guy a lot. I forget his name. And the werewolf guy, John. John Talbain?
[01:03:47] - [Aaron]
John Talbain. Yeah. Yeah. That dude, he's so good too. And I know that I
[01:03:53] - [Greg]
I guess, but I know John Talbain, but would also probably say the fish guy.
[01:04:00] - [Aaron]
I don't remember the fish dude's name. I think
[01:04:03] - [Greg]
But I know the first and last name of that werewolf.
[01:04:06] - [Aaron]
See, I know yeah. I know John Talbain. I know Morgan. There's Dimitri? Dimitri.
[01:04:13] - [Aaron]
Yeah. He's the vampire. God, that's right.
[01:04:15] - [Greg]
There's another There's Lilith, which
[01:04:21] - [Aaron]
is Lilith is the other one. The other Morgan. Other Morgan.
[01:04:25] - [Greg]
Get them mixed up. There's Felicia. That's titty cat. Yeah. There we go.
[01:04:33] - [Greg]
There's Who's the mummy? Ankaris. Ankaris. Ankaris. Anakaris.
[01:04:41] - [Greg]
Anakaris. There's b b b hood.
[01:04:47] - [Aaron]
Little Red
[01:04:49] - [Greg]
Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood with an SMG. I I would be I am so open to like things like Dark Soccer's coming back. It's been
[01:04:59] - [Aaron]
it's been a long time. I'm surprised it hasn't in some way, like they brought I thought there was one other fighting series that was just recently brought back, but I forget. Yeah. I'm surprised they haven't brought back Darkstalkers for sure considering how popular Felicia and Morgan and all those have become on like Marvel versus Capcom or like any crossover with Capcom like they usually get pretty popular because because I mean, because you know why they're popular. Yeah.
[01:05:32] - [Greg]
Because they've they've got such large hearts.
[01:05:35] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Yeah. They've got such balanced move kits. Yes.
[01:05:41] - [Greg]
Really, really well designed characters, let's say. Very well designed. You ever play Virtua Fighter? You ever dabbled Virtua Fighter?
[01:06:03] - [Aaron]
Oh, man. Yeah. Whichever one was on March. I yeah. Whichever one was on March.
[01:06:10] - [Aaron]
I've I've played
[01:06:11] - [Greg]
a good amount of that. So one of my favorite single player things in a video game is the single player for Virtua Fighter four, Evolution on the PlayStation. So what what that game did was the single player Virtua Fighter has a very strong awareness that it's a video game. So what the single player is is that you would basically just go you you played as a player going to arcades, and you had to get to, like, the top of a leaderboard in, like, specific arcades. So, like, the single player is just, like, a map of, like, Tokyo with, like, arcades on it.
[01:06:47] - [Greg]
That's cool as fuck. It was so much fun. And then, like, there's, like, the beginner arcade and the and, like, and then, like, more advanced arcades or arcades that, they use, like, this kind of fighter, and you go and it's, like and who you would fight every time you go there is not, like, necessarily guaranteed because then you have other higher level players going to the arcades. It was so well done, and they've never done it against Singed, which is sad. But it's it's I recommend it.
[01:07:10] - [Greg]
If, like, if you can find a way to play Virtua Fighter IV Evolution, that single player mode is fantastic. What is it on?
[01:07:18] - [Aaron]
You said was it on PlayStation two or PlayStation two. I might just have to I just have to emulate it. Don't sue me. Don't sue me, Sony.
[01:07:29] - [Greg]
It's Sega. They don't care.
[01:07:30] - [Aaron]
That's true. Yeah. Speaking of awesome fighting games single player modes, have you played any of the Killer Instinct reboot, the the 2016 one?
[01:07:41] - [Greg]
I played a little bit. The I but I think the problem is is, like, I tried to learn, and I couldn't figure out I couldn't figure it out. I couldn't understand what, like, what it wanted me to do. This Killer has a very, very specific way that it plays, and my my smooth ass boomer brain couldn't couldn't understand it. Because I never I never played I never played the old Killer Instinct, so it was like like, I played it a little bit, but not, like, when I was, like, a kid, but not, like, when I was taking these fighting games seriously.
[01:08:10] - [Greg]
Never played Killer Instinct. So, like, it was I I couldn't I couldn't figure it out.
[01:08:15] - [Aaron]
It's totally the opposite of a smooth brain. Like, the Killer Instinct, feel like, is it's it's like it's like learning Guitar Hero, getting real good at Guitar Hero, and then trying to play, like, a real guitar. It's like, what the fuck do I do?
[01:08:30] - [Greg]
Like, you
[01:08:30] - [Aaron]
you were so good at Street Fighter and games that require, like, knowledge of frames and shit like that. Then once you get to, like, killer instinct where it's just, like, do a combo opener and then a linker and then an ender Yeah. It's just, yeah, how do I do this? But the single player mode or or well, not not the single player mode, but killer instinct had this one mode call I forget what it was called, but it was just like a like a roguelike pretty much.
[01:08:57] - [Greg]
Okay.
[01:08:58] - [Aaron]
So the whole point of it was that Gargos is going to be resurrected in a certain amount of days. I forget how many days, but you put together your team of any three characters from, you know, from killer our Killer Instinct or whatever. So you put together your team of three, and you can equip different you can equip different cards that'll heal them or give them a little bit of an attack boost or defense boost. You can also equip these, like, guardian spirits that'll give them other cool effects. Like, I think there was one that was, like, it was like a ram that made it so whenever you did whatever move, you would knock the enemy, like, basically basically just a combo breaker, like a a combo breaker without having to do the actual inputs for a combo breaker.
[01:09:49] - [Aaron]
And there were a bunch more, and I forget what their effects were, but they were really cool. Like, there was a snake one that I think did poison damage to enemies. But yeah. So so you put together your team of three, and you basically go from, like, fight to fight to fight and fight your way up to Gargos. But along the way, you you don't have base basically, once you die, that's it.
[01:10:14] - [Aaron]
Like, it's permadeath. You're done. You gotta start all the hell over. And along the way up to Gargos, you can after beating enemies, you have a chance to draw cards, and then the the cards you draw can, like, heal you and and do all sorts of other effects, but that shit is just so much fun. Like, that's how I got as good as I am with Riptor because, like, everybody else would die.
[01:10:38] - [Aaron]
And I'm, like, the only one I'm really, like, really, really good with is is Riptor. You know, I guess, all good knows. There's the characters in Killer Instinct are also really fucking nuts because you have Mhmm. You you have what was it? Glacius, the man made of ice.
[01:10:56] - [Aaron]
Argonauts, the big fucking stone golem. Thank Yeah. Fucking you had rash from
[01:11:03] - [Greg]
Battlesoads. Battlesoads.
[01:11:05] - [Aaron]
General Rom from Gears.
[01:11:07] - [Greg]
Yeah.
[01:11:07] - [Aaron]
The the new TJ combo, the boxer man, he would come up in there. Bam. And he was really fucking good also. Yeah. I like him too.
[01:11:14] - [Aaron]
But, yeah. Killer instincts, especially with that single player mode is so fucking fun.
[01:11:20] - [Greg]
Mhmm. Well, I need I honestly, I should I I should stop being a baby and just learn how to play that game.
[01:11:27] - [Aaron]
Once you do it, yeah.
[01:11:29] - [Greg]
It was kind of a case of, like it was, like, I don't immediately know how to play. I don't wanna do this anymore. So I I should I should just get in there and and just look, because that sounds pretty pretty neat. Was the the damage persistent? Like, you got damage in a fight, did it carry over to
[01:11:46] - [Aaron]
the next fight? Yep. Yep. And I mean, you you could stop at I forget if you could stop at stores. Like, yeah, the damage was persistent, but then you could, like, every now and again go to like a place where you can heal your characters, but it's not like a lot.
[01:12:03] - [Aaron]
It's yeah.
[01:12:05] - [Greg]
That's pretty sick. That's pretty sick. Do you have a without mentioning anything from Soul Calibur two, do you have a favorite guest character in a fighting game?
[01:12:14] - [Aaron]
I wanna say like, would it count if it's from a crossover like Marvel versus Capcom or no?
[01:12:28] - [Greg]
What do you give me an example. Like, what do
[01:12:30] - [Aaron]
you mean? I was gonna say Phoenix Wright. Or no. No. No.
[01:12:33] - [Aaron]
No. No. No. No. I lied.
[01:12:34] - [Aaron]
Frank West when he was in Marvel versus Capcom three because what was it? He just did like he had all of his weapons from dead right, like From dead rising, yeah. Yeah. You go like a baseball bat and then bring out a bench and then bring out a pipe and then you just bring out random shit every single attack and then his big move was just like a wave of zombies and shit, and it was that was pretty fun.
[01:12:59] - [Greg]
That was that that's a good one. I I always like when they adapt, like, a non fighting game character into a fighting game. Yep. Like, or Alive four, which was the a March launch title featured not the Master Chief, but a Spartan a female Spartan because it's dead or alive. It's gonna be a girl.
[01:13:19] - [Aaron]
Oh, yeah. What Yeah, I know exactly which one you're talking about. Yep. I played a good amount of that one too.
[01:13:26] - [Greg]
That and that guy's always fun. That was so silly because you have, like, like, the the slight Ninja girls and then giant spar Spartan.
[01:13:36] - [Aaron]
And wasn't that because that was exclusive to March or something dumb?
[01:13:40] - [Greg]
It was a March launch title that I that Oh, I shit.
[01:13:43] - [Aaron]
Yeah. And now that I'm thinking about it, there was also I forget if it was so there there was that one game on, Sega Saturn. Think it was Spiders Megamix where you could play as, as Hornet from Daytona. Yeah. And his he doesn't have any arms.
[01:14:01] - [Aaron]
It's just his wheels. Yeah. That shit's good.
[01:14:04] - [Greg]
No. That's a guest gear. That that's a guest gear.
[01:14:07] - [Aaron]
That's a guest character. Goddamn it.
[01:14:12] - [Greg]
Guilty Gear Strive just had Lucy from Cyberpunk Edge Runners as a playable character. And that's that's really cool because, like, she will one of her supers is that she you you you hack the other player, like, exactly the same way you do in cyberpunk, and it it it's it's so well done. It's so well done.
[01:14:34] - [Aaron]
That is really cool. That's something I wouldn't fucking expect.
[01:14:38] - [Greg]
Unofficial guest character, people found out that Dragon Ball FighterZ uses a very similar a very similar engine, if not the same engine, as Jojo's all star battle. And so they put they put Dio into into Dragon Ball fighters. They modded him in, and it works so well. You have, like, Dio, like, hitting Goku with a steamroller.
[01:15:09] - [Aaron]
And he just works. Oh, you know what? That's another good one. What is that game called? From jump force.
[01:15:19] - [Aaron]
They had fucking in Kaiba in there.
[01:15:21] - [Greg]
They had every ball. Every any if it was in Shonen Jump, it was in jump force.
[01:15:25] - [Aaron]
They totally did not need to put Yugi and Kaiba in there, but I'm glad they did because that shit was fun.
[01:15:31] - [Greg]
Yeah. They they they really had to pad out their roster. You only have so they only have so many Naruto characters. You gotta pad that out. Dude.
[01:15:39] - [Greg]
Fuck. Fuck. Add Yugi. I wish they would do another one
[01:15:43] - [Aaron]
of those, but, like, way way way way better than Jump Force because, like, it was like, Jump Force was fun, like, stupid fun, but after a little while, it's just, like, the same the same shit kinda over and over, but, like
[01:15:57] - [Greg]
Jump Jump Force was fun, but it's, like, can you it's arguably or an even arguably, it's I don't it's not a very good game I've never played it. I've always wanted to play it. Oh my god. It's the reason on a wii u is play pokin.
[01:16:30] - [Aaron]
They have it on Switch now. If you get a Switch, I'll buy you a copy. I'm sure it's like dirt cheap.
[01:16:36] - [Greg]
I know. It's it's Nintendo and the Pokemon company.
[01:16:40] - [Aaron]
Oh, it's so good. It's actually good. Like, I think I mained Weavile because she I don't know why I'm calling it she whatever. She can do these, like, gigantic ice claw attacks, and she's so goddamn fast. Like, they they do that that thing where each character belongs to a certain, like, class of characters.
[01:17:02] - [Aaron]
Like, there's power, speed, special, balanced, shit like that. Then, you know, Weavile was speed character, and, of course, they had the Switch one had a bunch of DLC that wasn't in the the Wii U version. Like, they they brought Blastoise and Aegislash, I think, into it, and that shit was really cool.
[01:17:25] - [Greg]
Really quick, how much do
[01:17:28] - [Aaron]
you think it costs to buy a pokken tournament DX for the Switch? I I real I hope it's only 20. I hope it's 20.
[01:17:40] - [Greg]
You sweet summer child, this is a Nintendo game. Poke tournament Poke tournament is 85 Canadian dollars. Holy
[01:17:51] - [Aaron]
shit. Why? I mean, yeah, you said why. It's a Nintendo fucking Pokemon Oh.
[01:17:59] - [Greg]
Oh. Yep. Yep. There was Or you can get it on Amazon for the low low price of $76.99.
[01:18:11] - [Aaron]
Oh, fuck off, Amazon. Damn it. There was another fighting game I had in my brain for a second when we were talking about poking. Oh, did you ever I mean, I know you're not a Nintendo guy really, but did you fuck with ARMS at all?
[01:18:28] - [Greg]
And I've never played ARMS.
[01:18:29] - [Aaron]
Oh, man. That was kind of cool for a minute. I
[01:18:33] - [Greg]
I would try arms. I would I would play arms.
[01:18:35] - [Aaron]
It was pretty fun like yeah, each character and that also has their own cool ability like I I played as this clown girl who, oh, what was it? She she could was it she could move back and forth when she blocks, and she also block in midair and kinda be like a little bounce move, and yeah. That was my main for a little bit, and there was all sorts of cool different types of arms you could equip, like ones that when you punch, they would fly off your hand and hit the enemy or ones that would start the enemy on fire and ship. It was it was cool, man. I wish they would do arms two and then add way wackier shit because that game was pretty good, pretty solid.
[01:19:20] - [Greg]
Did ARMS have a guest character? I don't know why I thought I I feel like it did. No. Don't think so. I know I thought it had, like,
[01:19:27] - [Aaron]
a guest character that was arms ified. I'm just wrong. Oh, okay. Here we go. Guest character, Steve in Smash Bros.
[01:19:35] - [Aaron]
I mean, I don't know if you consider Smash Bros a fighting game, but, yeah, Steve did not need to in
[01:19:39] - [Greg]
Smash Bros. Get We into that right now, but I will say yes. Yes, I absolutely do think it's a fighting game.
[01:19:45] - [Aaron]
I do too. I mean, I I would. Yeah. I'm not avoiding that question.
[01:19:55] - [Greg]
Yeah. Smash Brothers, I mean, they they win for for guest characters because they just not everybody. It was a very much an everybody's here situation.
[01:20:02] - [Aaron]
Oh, yeah. Yeah, so much so they had a What the fuck they had? Oh? What the fuck is his name from undertale they had a sans fucking costume They had Cuphead I don't think they had a Cuphead costume in there, but they no. Yeah.
[01:20:18] - [Aaron]
They did. They had Cuphead costume in there. The Shantae costume of all fucking things, you know. Listen, they they put Terry Bogard into Smash, which is more the greatest thing they could
[01:20:31] - [Greg]
have ever done and no one ever would have expected it. And then he and then he came out and the kids were like, who's Terry Bogard? But I knew. And
[01:20:41] - [Aaron]
then it becomes like
[01:20:41] - [Greg]
Who's this old old man in crowd.
[01:20:45] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Who's Terry Bogard? Fucking sit down on my lap, son. I'll tell you a tale. Have you ever heard of Fatal Fury?
[01:20:53] - [Greg]
The design for Terry Bogard, I read this once. I'm I don't I'm pretty sure it's true, but, I mean, I it's something I read years ago, so take it with a grain of salt. I read that one of the the art designers got the design for Terry Bogard from someone he saw at a Skid Row concert. Oh,
[01:21:12] - [Aaron]
fuck. Yeah.
[01:21:13] - [Greg]
And he was like, this a kind of video game.
[01:21:16] - [Aaron]
Another cool SNK fighting game I like to to dabble with every now and again. Have you ever played Waku Waku seven? I haven't I haven't
[01:21:25] - [Greg]
it's rare that I have even heard of a fighting game. Dude,
[01:21:29] - [Aaron]
Google it. It's so cool. It's it's a real wacky fucking game. Like, there's a big the cat looking character. There's That's
[01:21:36] - [Greg]
all fucking big the cat. You got like big the cat. It was like Axel from Streets of Rage. I just
[01:21:45] - [Aaron]
it's got everything.
[01:21:46] - [Greg]
This is like some robot. This yeah. This looks fucking wacky as hell.
[01:21:52] - [Aaron]
Yeah. It's a pretty fun game. It's colorful and stupid, like the super moves are way more insane than they needed to be, but it's a pretty
[01:22:02] - [Greg]
cool game. There was a period of time where I may I had a Japanese Xbox Live account. I went to the process like, the long process of making it. I forget why or not Xbox Live. It was a PSN account.
[01:22:16] - [Greg]
Made a Japanese PSN account, I think, for early access to, like, a demo for some game. But then after I I got that demo, like, I still had the account, and me and my friends would go through, like, Japanese PSN store and find, like, demos for, like, obscure Japanese fighting games and just play those, and that was that was a time. Aw. I couldn't tell you what any of them were called, but there's these just random anime fighters that were just a ton of fun.
[01:22:43] - [Aaron]
Oh, man. Yeah. Now, with with the arcade archives shit that's out now well, not I I say out now, like, it's new, but it's not with the arcade archives shit, I've I've dug into a whole bunch of those old ass SNK fighting games that I didn't know about until I got my the original Switch on launch day, and they started releasing all of those. Mhmm. Yeah, man.
[01:23:08] - [Aaron]
I there was last blade, I played a good amount of that in, like, samurai showdown. Holy shit. Samurai showdown is so fucking nuts. Right? That's some intense shit right there.
[01:23:25] - [Aaron]
Like, I remember watching this clip of some dude who oh, what was it? Basically, like, you can insta kill your enemy, like Yeah. Almost right at the beginning of the game, and I forget what the fuck he did exactly. But it was, like, that forever cemented samurai showdown to win my brain as, like, just the most intense fighting game ever made.
[01:23:50] - [Greg]
I never I I always meant to play, like, the new Sam show that they were they released, but I I always forgot. I it's one of those things where it's, like, I'll wait for a sale, and then sales happen. I forget to pick them up pick it up.
[01:24:01] - [Aaron]
Oh, back on back on the the guest characters thing. I think it was in the newest King of Fighters or some other game. They have one of the the foot the football players. I think it was Messi or Ronaldo, I forget.
[01:24:15] - [Greg]
It was Ronaldo was in the it was in the City Of The Wolves.
[01:24:21] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's what it was.
[01:24:23] - [Aaron]
Yep. Yep.
[01:24:32] - [Greg]
There's a whole fighting game that was it it was made in China. It's called Dong Dong Never Die. And that's it like, such a it's like a like, everything about this game is, like, bootleg. They they did performance capture, like, the old MK games where they just digitize a bunch of still images into, like, motion of, like, real people. Of the one of yeah.
[01:25:02] - [Greg]
The One of the female characters can summon Optimus Prime for some reason.
[01:25:08] - [Aaron]
There's there's one there's one character where it's just like, he's in a blue button up shirt. He's got a gas mask and it like an a k 47 for no reason.
[01:25:16] - [Greg]
Well, so there's so many characters that are just like guys, but then they have like fighting or take archetypes and powers. And yeah, I can't there's a girl who looks like a maid, and one of her supers is that she summons Optimus Prime who will come in as a robot, turn into a truck, and then, like, run you over. That's her super. Like, Michael's Bay Optimus Prime.
[01:25:35] - [Aaron]
Why is Mario in this?
[01:25:37] - [Greg]
Oh, yeah. And Mario's in the game.
[01:25:39] - [Aaron]
Why is she
[01:25:40] - [Greg]
in it? And and Mario and Mario's moveset is that they just took Akuma they just took Akuma's moveset. So Mario's move moveset is exactly Akuma. Like, he's got a raging demon and an air fireball and a teleport.
[01:25:56] - [Aaron]
Why?
[01:25:57] - [Greg]
I don't know why. There's no explaining it. And his his his
[01:26:00] - [Aaron]
So good.
[01:26:01] - [Greg]
His fireballs are mushrooms. Like Yeah. Forgot I don't know. I I forgot that Mario was in that game.
[01:26:10] - [Aaron]
Oh, my God. Oh, this man this man summoned a fucking snowman with a spear.
[01:26:17] - [Greg]
Oh, yeah.
[01:26:19] - [Aaron]
Oh, this game is so good. This is something that we totally need to stream
[01:26:23] - [Greg]
or something. This is so good. Search for Dong Dong Never Die Optimus Prime just to see Optimus Prime in this game.
[01:26:29] - [Aaron]
Oh, I fucking saw it. It's glorious.
[01:26:32] - [Greg]
Opto oh, there's there's your thumbnail. You can have Optimus Prime fighting somebody in this fucking game.
[01:26:43] - [Aaron]
Man. Oh, I had another Oh, Necret from Soul Caliber two was cool.
[01:26:52] - [Greg]
Yeah. See like a little Original Todd McFarlane character.
[01:26:57] - [Aaron]
Oh, yeah. That's right. I
[01:26:58] - [Greg]
forgot that. Designed by Todd McFarlane
[01:27:00] - [Aaron]
just for Soul Calibur two. And then we never saw him again. Nope. God damn.
[01:27:05] - [Greg]
I don't think I wanted to pay Todd McFarlane again.
[01:27:07] - [Aaron]
No. He's pretty cool though. The little like, he could morph weapons from his little like ball thing.
[01:27:14] - [Greg]
His his his weapon was a ball.
[01:27:17] - [Aaron]
The other the other ones were just different colors. They were different names and different colors, but they were like the the same looking fucking ball. Yep. Just the ball. Oh,
[01:27:29] - [Greg]
Necrid. Necrid is the most like late nineties, early two thousands thing that could ever been made. A Todd McFarlane character called Necrid.
[01:27:41] - [Aaron]
And he speaks just some random well, not random. He speaks just some fucking language that we'll never understand and Yeah. He's just like all the time.
[01:27:54] - [Greg]
Random recommended games.
[01:27:59] - [Aaron]
Do you have a random recommended game you wanna slap out to people or
[01:28:03] - [Greg]
Yeah, guys. Go play fucking Dong Dong Never Dies.
[01:28:06] - [Aaron]
Oh, my god. Yeah.
[01:28:07] - [Greg]
No. No. I here, I'll I'll I'll I'll give I'll give an earnest recommendation, and that is to go and find a fighting game to try and to play. And don't get hung up on winning or learning everything right away. Just play, have some fun.
[01:28:26] - [Greg]
Mess around a training mode, mess around a single player. If you're bold, go online. Give it a shot. Because a lot of people see fighting games as having this huge barrier to entry. But I feel like if you give it a try and use a lot of the the the teaching tools that are there, you'll find something to like.
[01:28:43] - [Greg]
Because if if if, like, me and my dumbass brothers can learn it as children, you can learn as an adult. And that's the Greg promise.
[01:28:52] - [Aaron]
Put a stamp there. Bam. The Greg promise. The Greg promise. Yeah.
[01:28:57] - [Aaron]
And especially with how many fighting game collections there are nowadays, like, fuck. There's two Capcom fighting game collections. You can get the Street Fighter collection like with how many of those there are out now. I think there's this is probably the best time if any to get into Oh, yeah. A or multiple fighting games just buy one of them and then yeah.
[01:29:17] - [Aaron]
Like honestly, each of them has at least I mean, they're they all have really good good holy shit. They all have really good games, but yeah. If there's too many good ones to recommend actually. I'm gonna try to recommend one from each one, but
[01:29:31] - [Greg]
Honestly, it's too hard. Honestly, Street Fighter six. Get Street Fighter six. It has a mode for, like, they call it modern mode if you're not, like, new to fighting games and maybe can't get a grasp on the motions, you can play modern mode. Has a really long lengthy single player to learn the game too.
[01:29:46] - [Greg]
Street Fighter six, great game.
[01:29:49] - [Aaron]
Hell, yeah. I forgot things about that single player mode where you can't you like make your own character and like your own fighting style and shit like that.
[01:29:56] - [Greg]
Yep. Hell, yeah. Yep.
[01:29:58] - [Aaron]
Yep. Yep. I think my random recommended game, it's another one of these of these games that I'm gonna try and binge and and and beat my way through. Tori Saturn. It's so there so there's Torrey three d, Torrey two, and then Torrey Saturn.
[01:30:15] - [Aaron]
It's the third game in the Torrey series, I guess. And it's it's it's just like a stylized as like a Sega Saturn game. It's got like the just the the the look you'd you would expect the early low poly, like, kind of rough, jagged, pixely look from a from a Saturn game. I don't know how better to explain that, but, yeah, it's it's super fast paced. Like, it's basically a Sonic game because you'll run super fast all the time, and you can do homing attacks through these little, like, star shooting portal things that'll launch you across the map and shit.
[01:30:56] - [Aaron]
You'll collect stars, and each level is, like, it's super each level is super short. There's only what? Two, six, eight, ten, 12. There's ten ten levels. Each one will run you about maybe five minutes, probably less.
[01:31:11] - [Aaron]
They're super duper short, and there's some cool collectibles, like unlockable costumes. There's a bonus hub that you can go to that has a little computer with, like, like, a made up Dreamcast main menu because, like, you know, the Dreamcast menu, like, the four icons, and it's got, like, the water drippy background and shit. It's it's basically got its own little Dreamcast menu thing for the bonus area, and it's got chill ass music for that. Yeah. Torrey Saturn is cool.
[01:31:38] - [Aaron]
It's cheap. It's quick. Go do that. It's great.
[01:31:41] - [Greg]
Go go go take an afternoon and play that guy that one.
[01:31:44] - [Aaron]
Go do it. I don't think it's gonna take a whole afternoon, but hell yeah. Go take a lunch break
[01:31:50] - [Greg]
and play that.
[01:31:51] - [Aaron]
Yeah. Go go play through Tori Saturn, and then go learn like Marvel versus Capcom two or No.
[01:31:59] - [Greg]
Don't go learn Marvel versus Capcom. There's too many sweats online.
[01:32:02] - [Aaron]
Yeah.
[01:32:03] - [Greg]
Marvel versus Capcom is the one series I would say, if you're a novice, don't go click. There's too many there's too many sweaty people online in Marvel's.
[01:32:13] - [Aaron]
Oh, fuck. Yeah. Just go yeah. Go buy go buy any of the arcade archives fighting game. Go play Waku Waku seven.
[01:32:19] - [Aaron]
Go play Waku seven. Holy shit. This is a this is a good ass time. Hell, yeah. I
[01:32:29] - [Greg]
I Who needs everyone else?
[01:32:31] - [Aaron]
That's true. We don't need Not me.
[01:32:33] - [Greg]
Or Beth. They can all go to hell. You heard it here first.
[01:32:37] - [Aaron]
This is our show now, motherfucker. See you about more fighting games next time.
[01:32:42] - [Greg]
Hell, yeah.
[01:32:44] - [Aaron]
Now I do wanna go play Street Fighter three because goddamn that soundtrack is so good.
[01:32:49] - [Greg]
Yeah. Jazzy NYC '99, baby.
[01:32:54] - [Aaron]
Oh, man. Alright. I'm gonna go play that now. Goodbye, everybody.
