[00:00:02] We get our first like one star review. Decent podcast never mentioned Ebola once. Did someone say Ebola? Damn right always. Why are we talking about Ebola? Because Aaron talks about it so goddamn much. I guess. I'm not here to, you know, rant on anybody's parade, but there's a lot better things to talk about than Ebola. No, there's not. Name one thing. I guess you got me.

[00:00:31] Can't think of ice cream sandwiches are cool. Dude, ice cream sandwiches are just stupid. Fuck yeah.

[00:01:18] Hey, it's SuperPod Saga. It's the greatest collaboration of all time. It's the podcast with me and Jerry, the only one on the internet. That's how it's always gonna be, right Jerry? Yeah. If you cheat on me, I swear to God. No, no cheating. Just maybe some cucking. We can try that. Ooh, podcast cooking. Podcucking. What does that entail?

[00:01:42] Is it you guys, you doing a separate podcast and for this podcast you watch that episode? Is that what the, is that what podcucking is in, like, is that how we define this? I think so. Holy fuck. I hope so. Our guest is here. CG Danny B. What's good man? Hello, tis I, boy. What a time. We just popped in here and said, all right, hit go, hit go, and then just, hey, here we are. What up about Ebola?

[00:02:12] Ebola? Cucking? We need to hit that, like, that third golden point to hit the trifecta. We'll come though. Oh, you know, happy Pride Month, everybody. Oh, yeah, it's the last day of Pride Month. Oh, yeah. Happy last day of Pride Month as of this recording. You know, I always forget which months actually have 31 days. So I always just expect an extra day. I think, is it, is it the knuckle thing?

[00:02:38] Is it January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November? I don't know if that actually works. I've seen people do it, but I don't actually know the rhythm to it, so I don't know. I don't either. And I always think that there's always like a trick where like, oh, when you, when you put your two knuckles together, that's just one knuckle. Right, maybe it is. Maybe because if it's knuckle, divot, knuckle, divot, knuckle, divot, knuckle, I don't know. Someone in the comments, let me know. What if you're missing a hand? What then?

[00:03:08] What if I guess you don't get to have half the months or no hands, no months? Yeah. I guess you only live until June. Your year's ruined. Oh, shit. Yeah, this is the shit. Danny, why don't you, why don't you go ahead and plug your shit? Absolutely. Everybody needs to go to Super Pod Saga. Now go Danny. Sorry. Jerry doesn't know. I don't know shit. Hey guys, I'm CGA B. I love all things indie gaming.

[00:03:37] I am one of the co-hosts for Playlog Podcast, which drops every Thursday on YouTube. All the audio platforms where me and my partner Topher talk about what games we've been playing, the indie gaming news, a lot of lists. We just did our most anticipated for the rest of the year. We're about to do our favorite game so far in 2025. And then I also make content on YouTube where I do indie game recommendations. I'm currently working on my July releases, which is definitely going to be late. And then I stream on Twitch on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

[00:04:05] A lot of date everything these days because man, are we horny for furniture. And then I've been playing a lot of TTRPGs across my friends channels. I'm doing monster of the week. I don't know when this comes out compared to recording. So this might all be outdated, but monster of the week. I'm on Tales of the Valiant, which is a brand new, well, not brand new now. It's season two, but I'm a brand new character on it. So listen, we're doing all kinds of the internet. What sleep? I don't know. Hell yeah, dude. That's a feel that is busy. Yeah. I just want to nap. Yeah. Might have to get some protein.

[00:04:35] Now let me ask you something though. Do you ever find this is like maybe some inside baseball to content creators and stuff, but, you know, as content creators, sometimes we always end up complaining being like, we talk about the shit more than we actually get to play the shit. Yeah. Do you feel, do you feel that way sometimes? Like sometimes for sure. Absolutely. There's, there's weeks where I feel like all I'm doing is playing games. I'm like, I'm not doing enough work.

[00:05:02] And then any other week is just like, I'm doing so much, especially letting toe front and talk about this all the time where we hit this like kind of shitty run of, we get eight, nine, 10 review keys back to back. And it's a lot of, we started the game. Hey, I've played the first three hours. It's pretty great, but I got to jump onto whatever I'm on the last active Claire obscure, which like the last three weeks, I'm like, I'm gonna go back this weekend. I'm finishing that shit. I'm going to knock that out. And I just, I don't have the time. Pippi strella is one. I've started twice now. I've heard that's really good. I'm having a great time.

[00:05:32] I like there's, it's kind of mega Manny where you can pick the two or which area you want to go. When you start, I've gone through both areas, but I've not completed the boss in either. Cause I did one. I didn't get any content out of it for the podcast. I'm like, let me stream it so I can make content for it. And then I got through that area. I still have to post that so I can submit it. So I'm just like, I've played a lot of it. I like a lot of it. I just need to finish it. But yeah, it's a ride. Just always something to play. And it's a great problem to have to have too much to play. Yeah.

[00:05:59] But also, fuck when I'm just, I want to, I want to finish some of the games that I'm playing. The ones sitting on my PlayStation. I have like games from last year. I'm like, I need to platinum this before I install. I have, thank goodness you're here. Which would be like an afternoon. Yeah. I do. I do. It's been a slow two years now. Like I got the platinum for Celeste last year when we did for the book club. But like, I think I got the Marvel rivals platinum pretty early when that game dropped. God. But it sounds painful.

[00:06:27] It was, it was at times, at times the longest one I sat on was the Wolverine trophies. Like get three kills your all. I'm like, this is impossible. This all sucks. You can't do it. And then one day I did it by accident. And that was my plan. Cool. Yeah. That's hilarious. I think the last thing I platinum was Astro Bot. Oh, what a fucking game. I know. Right. Fucking love Astro Bot. Hell yeah, dude. That was a, that was a, that was an easy plat, but like, yes. So enjoy.

[00:06:55] Like I, like the beginning to the end of that game, that journey with that game was like quite literally at 10 out of 10 experience. Yeah. It's so great. And like, I, I'm, I'm honest with myself when I complained about breath of the wild, not that I didn't like breath of the wild, but I was just like, yeah, but I was like, it's, it's Zelda. Right. If I think of that game released as just breath of the wild, no Zelda attached to it. It probably would have been like people like, this is a great game, but like, it wouldn't have been loved. Like it was.

[00:07:24] Uh, and I have to say like, to be fair, like with Astro Bot, I'm like, I love Astro Bot. I love all the things it does with the dual sense controller. But if you took off all of the fun little skins of all the PlayStation characters, it was just a 3d platformer. How special would it be? Um, Oh, I definitely, it wouldn't be nearly as it would be good. And it controls tightly, but I think like 60% of what makes that game so good is how goddamn charming it is. Mm hmm. Right.

[00:07:51] And like, especially if you have the nostalgia for PlayStation. Yep. Like I do like, I have nostalgia for PlayStation and in Nintendo especially. So like when I got my switch to, I was one of those crazy people that went and bought that fucking welcome to her. Yeah. I bought that shit. Cause I was like, like I've read what, like, I swear to God, dude, I don't know if you guys do this or not, but I'll like, I'll see like a fucking avalanche of garbage reviews about something.

[00:08:19] And I'm like, yeah, but like, hang on. There's gotta be a good one. I'll find like one person on Reddit. It's like, I thought it was good. And I'll be like, see that guy. He liked it. He gets it. Yeah. There was literally one guy on joy. Like every game I enjoy, I'll be like, like, surely this isn't trash. Surely not everyone thinks that custom robo is trash, but guess what? There's like four of us that think it's good. Yeah.

[00:08:46] Well, that's like, I read that comment by that guy on Reddit. Some guy on Reddit just being like, you know what? If you had a, had like a Nintendo growing up and you have deep nostalgia for it, you absolutely should play this game. And I was like, well, I guess I better go and buy it right now. Cause of that one guy. The universe was, the universe was trying to God damn just to make sure you didn't waste money on that game. But you look for every possible like reason to buy it.

[00:09:15] You're like, please, please give me a reason. Please give me a reason. Yeah. But here's the other thing. Here's the other part of this. It's a good game. It's a good game. That's what I've heard. Yeah. It's fun. And like in a weird, like mini game, kind of like I'm learning about the console, like a fucking nerd. Like I didn't know. I got like so excited when I was like, Oh, now I understand why the voice chat works so good.

[00:09:40] They have a separate chip that's inside the God damn console specifically for like noise cancellation. That's crazy. But like who gives a shit, but I do, I guess. It's so weird where I want, I want to be excited for that. And like in the description sounds awesome. I'm glad that exists, but I just, I can't overlook. I'm like Astro's playroom is the pack in game. That's on the console. And that's a, what it's a $10 add on game.

[00:10:08] The, the switch to thing. I don't know how much I think so. It's 1499 Canadian. God, that's fucking 15. Oh my God. In that. Um, but I just, I can't see what that sounds like. I'll direct that nobody would watch, but it'd be great that it exists. We're like, here's how the switch works instead of having to buy. I still do think it should open over his fucking knee. It should have been a pack. It definitely should have been a packet. Like, Oh yeah. There's no reason why it shouldn't have been.

[00:10:48] Yeah. So, uh, before we get into super important breaking news, uh, Danny. Yo question. We always ask a new guest on the show. And that is, what is your favorite video game memory of all time? Oh God. Favorite video game memory of all time. It's, it'll be the one that got me to start streaming.

[00:11:15] Um, I'm not a big FPS person, but I do like narrative driven ones. So if I get like a single, not so much a call of duty campaigns to kind of whatever, but like, like singularity, far cry. Uh, good example. I haven't played singularity, but yeah, in that ballpark, but like, I'll fuck up a far cry. Every time we'll be Ubisoft. Bioshock's a great one. I'm the weird case where I started with infinite. So I go back. I'm like, man, if it's just way better, I'd like it's, it's, you know, I get, I get shish defied for that opinion, but, uh, it was Titanfall two.

[00:11:44] Uh, I remember playing Titanfall two, um, was really enjoying it. And there's the moment where you have like the giant skyscrapers. You're like, how am I going to get over there? And BT's like, I've got you. And like puts the handout and like throws you across. I'm like, Oh, this is such a cool moment. I remember sitting there like giggling and being excited. And I was like, damn, I wish I could see myself react to this moment. Cause I was so giddy. And I was like, I guess I have the place. I could just go live on the PlayStation. I like started the game over and then played to one viewer the entire time, which was just me on my phone. I'm like, Oh, I didn't realize it.

[00:12:15] Okay. But like, I had that realization before too. I was like, at least someone's watching us. Like that's me. That's me. Yeah. But like, that's where I was like, I loved like Titanfall, like by no means anywhere in my like top 50 games of all time or anything. But like, that's such a, a moment in time. I was like, yeah, content creation is a thing and I can capture these moments that I have forever. And the VODs out there somewhere of the first time I played Titanfall two on stream.

[00:12:44] And, and yeah, I think that's, that's a really special one for me. That's awesome. Yeah. That is a good one. Yeah. It's fucking tight. You know what? That's, that's, that's probably one of the better ones that we've gotten because it's not only is it a, an amazing video game memory. It's also your origin story, right? Yeah. It's like a starting. Yeah. Hell yeah. Yeah. Uh, Aaron, it's time for some important news. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Here's Jerry with news.

[00:13:13] It doesn't feel right until you do the beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Now to Jerry with the news, Jerry. Yeah. I'm on the ground, Aaron. I got some disappointing news. I'm standing outside of Nintendo headquarters. Miyamoto just came out wearing nothing but a tighty whitey mustard stained pair of, uh, it looks, it appears like he not, he's gone back in. Nevermind. That was not him. That was somebody else. That was fun. Uh, I don't even know if this is the right building, but we did just get confirmation

[00:13:41] that Nintendo is increasing the fucking price of switch one games, accessories, fucking everything on August 8th, I think, or first. Yeah. Cause guess what? They caught on. They caught on to us fucking Canadians up here. Everybody on Reddit was like, why the fuck would I pay shit this price for the breath

[00:14:09] of the wild switch to version when I could buy the switch one version and get the free upgrade. And it's like $30 cheaper. Why would I, why would I buy the switch two thing? So they caught on to it and they were like, Oh, uh, yeah. Cause market prices. So like, yeah, market price, uh, has to go up because some, somebody's fucking up the economy. Don't, don't know who, but something's going on. That's fucking the economy up.

[00:14:39] So now, yes, it is official switch one. Like everything digital, physical accessories, you name it. It's going up. Fucking Nintendo. Those Nintendo decisions, man. They're a move. They're a great time. Yeah. I would rather you have just told me that like that someone I really, really love just died. I didn't want to hear this. Well, Aaron, I got the other part of the news.

[00:15:08] I was like, Hey man, the actor that plays Elmo just died. Your wife is dead. At least my Nintendo is the same price, bitch. What am I to live? What a time to live. Yeah. That's, um, that's a thing that's happening. And I, I read it and I read it a few times and I went, yeah, I'm going to I'm not surprised, but come on, man.

[00:15:38] Come on. Like, I think it's, I think it's wild that it's the switch one stuff. Yeah. It's like you've had, I can't like, I can't say it's impossible. That it's never happened. Right. I'm sure it has, but I can't think of a time where I've, I've often been upgrade right away. Like I don't usually linger on the last platform. I might keep it around just to have like my PS four is upstairs, but doesn't get touched. But like, be like, yep. The switch two is out. We have the highest prices of all of our shit. You know, the console's expensive. The games are expensive.

[00:16:08] Yeah. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. By the way, the old ones, the, the old console that, you know, is eventually going to be a small little shelf of GameStop because of the switch two boxes are everywhere. We're going to increase the prices of those two. I just, that's just absurd. That's wild. Yeah. Yeah. It's a, it's disappointing. It's funny. Cause I was literally just, just talking about how much I love Nintendo, but then they go and do some shit like this. You really went and jinxed it, man. That's crazy. God damn it. Um, yeah.

[00:16:36] So moment of silence for the price tag of arms being just regular overpriced to now. Massively overpriced. First game I bought for the switch. You know what? Arms is not, it's not terrible. It's not terrible. Arms was fine for a weekend. Arms was good. What are you guys talking about? Arms is awesome. I enjoyed arms. Arms is fun. I just, I, I waited. What the fuck is your problem? Arms is great.

[00:17:06] Arms is a good weekend. It is. I locked all the characters and then I stopped. Yeah. I had a, I had a brief stint where I was playing competitively online and I was doing pretty good with, uh, with the clown check. Cause she has this ability where she can block in the air and then while she's blocking, she can move like forward and backwards. So I was like, okay, why is no one using this chick? And I got really fucking far in the competitive shit.

[00:17:31] And then there's so much, so much like a surprising amount of depth to that game, which I really love to fucking any Nintendo game. Like it's just front layer. It's cute. It's colorful. It's wacky. And then there's like 16 other layers behind it. And it's like, okay, this is something that I could, I could fuck with. I could spend like a whole, like 30 entire days researching the best characters and like, yeah. It's awesome. Yeah. Min Min is there, baby. Min Min's good shit too.

[00:18:00] Min Min's good shit. I don't know how excited you guys are about this fucking, uh, Marvel talk on. Have you, have you seen the trailer for this thing? The arc, the arc systems game. Yup. Yup. Holy fuck. It looks pretty good. I swear to God, I'm going to, I'm going to go out on a limb here.

[00:18:27] And I don't even think this is a hot take anymore at this point. That Iron Man design is the best Iron Man design that has ever happened. I, I won't argue the statement. I think that's a subjective thing, but like, I, I think in terms of like, I said, we plays rivals and our first major skin was the infinity war skin, which looks so similar to what's already in the game. You, you can't run around like, look, someone knows I bought a skin. Like a lot of Iron Man.

[00:18:55] So when we got like super sentai Iron Man, like that's fucking cool. Yeah. I didn't notice that. It's definitely a top. Yeah. He's like, it's like Gundam Iron Man. That's dope as shit. Fucking cool. Yeah. Cause I mean, Aaron, you're a, you're an enjoyer of Marvel versus Capcom. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. This is, I don't know if you know much about this game, but it's four V four. That's cool. All right. I'm on board tag, which I don't know how that works.

[00:19:25] Yeah. I want to see how that, that transition. Cause usually I'm not a big fighting game guy, but it's usually what bumpers to swap between your left one and your right one or cycle in a certain way, but now it's four. So is there like a, if I input fast enough, can I skip that? I get to like my fourth one and that kind of cycle, or maybe it's, I wonder if like one is like a reserve or something. Yeah. I'm not entirely sure. Marvel versus Capcom, uh, two, three. And I think infinite, they were all three V three. And it was just like, yep.

[00:19:52] Like, yeah, the bumpers or you're like, uh, what is it? Heavy punch and whatever the fuck? I don't know. Yeah. I'm sure it like, they'll just put another bumper or like a trigger on it, or maybe you hit them all at the same time or some shit like that to go to your four. Yeah. I think that's really fucking cool. Dude. Even ghost rider looks fucking dope as shit in this game. Yeah. Yeah. I don't. It's a different ghost rider. I don't know. I don't know. Ghost rider lore like that. I don't know which ghost rider this is, but it's not like. It's not Nicholas.

[00:20:23] Yeah. Yeah. Nicholas. Not my name. I'm a token. How do you spell this game? I went to Google Marvel token, like token. And it was just like, you want the coin? I'm like, no. What's how do I. It's a T O K O M. Talk on. Okay, here we go. Talk on. There we go. Ghost rider looks fucking sweet, man. He's got like. Yeah, he's got like a, like a, like a black jumpsuit. Kind of looking thing. Um. Yeah.

[00:20:53] Yeah, dude. Spidey looks dope. I saw in the trailer and I don't know exactly how this is going to work, but like his Spidey sense is his like dodge, which I'm like, that's sick. But like, how do you do that for an input where you have to have the character like Spidey sense and then dodge unless you just get the Spidey sense period and it doesn't necessarily guarantee your dodge. But like if it's like a rivals kind of thing where you get the fucking animation, but if you stand there like a dumbass, you're going to get hit.

[00:21:20] Um, either way, there's like a lot of polish in this and like I'm not again, not a fighting game guy. I don't really play with art games like that, but I think they're sick. There was a long time. There was a rumor they were doing in my hero game. They might still be doing that. And I would love to play that. I think it'd be one I would pick up. And this is when I'm like, I want to play this. I'm hoping a friend gets it and it's like, let's hang out at such and such as place and play this game all night because I don't see a world where I spend 70 80 bucks on this to get fucking throttled online.

[00:21:48] Uh, but maybe game looks sick. It does. If we're lucky, there's a cool single player mode. I don't know how the fuck arc system works handles their, uh, their single player modes, but like soul caliber. I think we do arcades just like kind of like street fighter. They'll like play through someone's story and do it. I think, yeah, I think it's similar to that. Damn it. Speaking of Spider-Man to, um, not Spider-Man to Sam Raimi, Spider-Man to, but, uh, Spider-Man also.

[00:22:15] So you guys have seen the, um, the Spider-Verse movies, right? Yeah. Really good. Real good movies. But Danny, Danny, Danny doesn't like them. No, I love them. Oh, I mean, I was, it was like, you see Spider-Verse, right? And Aaron, no, I haven't seen, you haven't seen the Spider-Verse movies. No, no, I'm not a big. Like Marvel movie guy, which is weird because I love invincible, but like, I'm not a big, like, hang on for a second though.

[00:22:44] Like I also couldn't give less of a fuck about a Marvel movie anymore at this point. Like the second something's like Marvel fucking this thing. I'm like, get it the fuck out of here. I don't care anymore. Avengers end game was the fucking end. Okay. Stop. Stop trying to make it work. It doesn't fucking work anymore. It's cool. But like, stop, stop it. Make something new.

[00:23:10] That said, those Spider-Man movies, dude, are the best Spider-Man movies. And they're like probably some of the best animated movies I've ever seen in my life. And one of the only animated movies to make me cry other than fucking up. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. That's pretty cool. Yeah. So here's the thing. All this to say, last night my buddy came over and he was, and so we started having a few, a few beers and we're like going to get into playing some video games and stuff.

[00:23:39] And he's like, hold on, dude, I got to show you something. Just the intro. I got to show you something. I was like, okay. So he throws on this fucking movie. And I'm like, what is this a joke? It's called K-pop demon hunters. Yeah. Yeah. It's on my list. I got to watch it. Is this a joke? He's like, no. And it's like starts up and I'm like, oh, this animation is really cool. And he's like, so it's the same people that made those Spider-verse movies. Oh, that I did.

[00:24:07] And I was like, oh, and motherfucker, when this thing starts popping up, when the first song kicks in, I was like, guess I like K-pop. This is crazy. It's fucking insane. It's like choreographed chicks, K-pop chicks killing demons to K-pop. It's fucking crazy. It's fucking crazy guys. It looks cool. He's popping up my Netflix.

[00:24:34] I just finished my binge of how I met your mother for like the first time, like five years. Hell yeah. And I keep getting the ad for it. I'm like, this looks cool. Maybe it's something I throw on. I thought it was a show. I didn't know it was a movie. But I think a buddy of mine had put something on his Instagram story. I say, I'm like, fuck, what is this? I'm like, K-pop. Okay. Yeah. All right, dude. I'll check it out. You guys got to watch this shit. Like it was charming off the bat.

[00:25:00] And then immediately just my jaw hit the floor when the song kicks in. And this, the fighting choreo, chore choreography starts fucking around. Like it was jaw dropping. It was like, it's insane to see. Fuck. Yeah. God, you got to check it out. I have an anime recommendation for you. So have you ever seen Puella Magi Madoka Magica? It's a long name, but like, dude, you made those things up. Look it up.

[00:25:29] It's the coolest shit ever. So it's, it's dark. You're going to have to say it again. I don't know what that would say. It's, it's a dark, it's dark as fuck, man. So it starts off as like a magical girl anime. Um, but then it gets like, like almost like right away shit gets real fucked. And like the, all the magical girls are getting eaten and killed and like torn apart and shit. And then, so it's, it's called Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Put that in the notes, please.

[00:25:58] Okay. Okay. All right. Here's, here's what I'm gonna need from you though. Yes. Because I am getting press emails about a video game version of this or something. I guess. Maybe they're just about the show. I have no idea, but every single time I get one, I am not interested. So I just delete the email, but I'm looking at this. I'm like, okay, I have seen this everywhere. Why should I care? Why, why, why, why should I give these emails the time of day?

[00:26:25] Uh, cause I'm like, okay, hold on. Someone else on the planet knows this thing exists. I'm getting emails about it and I'm just like delete. Wait, you're actually getting emails about this. This. I'm getting emails about a game or something. I don't, I don't know exactly what it is. That's such a crazy. Pink hair girl. This pink hair grows in my email. Like every other day. That's Madoka. Like did you, did you discover this through like a fishing scam or something? No, I wish I did. But no.

[00:26:54] Aaron's like one of the top fucking contributors to making the movie. So. Well, Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exendria. I don't know what the fuck officially announced. I don't know what the fuck. Skip that. Skip the game. Just watch the show. Watch the show and the movie. This is a mobile game. No, don't play it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Danny. For the developers of this game, leave Danny alone for fuck's sakes. No, just watch.

[00:27:22] I like listen to be fair. It's not that I'm like not interested in your emails. I'm not interested in emails about this particular game. I'm really sorry. At least they got you almost somewhat interested in the show. Yeah. Watch the show. And then there's a movie that's like a direct continuation of the show that kind of like finishes the whole story. But yeah, dude, it starts off like cutesy and like quirky and then it gets real fucking dark and it's fucking awesome. Yeah.

[00:27:52] If you love dark shit like this guy, you can't see my finger guns, but it's right up your alley. Bang. You got shot. Your finger guns are up my alley. Please remove your finger guns from my alley. Sir, this is a public space. Please, please remove those finger guns. This is a family restaurant. Sir, down on the ground. Put the oats in the back. What are you drinking? Why is there an old man on your can?

[00:28:21] It's an Arnold Palmer dog. Half tea, half lemonade. What the fuck is that? You've never heard of that? No. I mean, I know who Arnold Palmer is. He's a fucking golfer. It's half... He's got a drink. It's half tea, half lemonade. Arizona tea, dude. Do they not? Well, they probably don't have... They probably don't recognize Arizona and Canada, but yeah. It's true. Yeah, real recognizes real. Literally, what the fuck is in Arizona? You guys are trying to hear the official stance of Canada. Arizona is not real. Yeah.

[00:28:51] So says Canada. We don't believe in Arizona here in Canada. It's like a fucking unicorn or a big foot or something. Arizona doesn't exist. What the fuck is? You have a fucking... Arizona doesn't have rights. You have a fucking bumper sticker on your car. I want to believe, and there's like the shape of the state of Arizona. Listen, I'm just saying, before you guys post the episode, you should at least design that.

[00:29:22] Just get the silhouette and put it on a merch shop. Oh, dude. I want to believe. So when this episode pops off, because I'm so fucking funny, they're going to be like, oh my God. And the fucking Arizona stickers are like, you from Arizona? No, but I want to believe it's real. We'll put out two versions. We'll do the Canadian one that says Arizona doesn't exist. And then there'll be an American one where it just has Arizona on it. Honk if you're from Arizona. Not even a statement just like, yeah, Arizona, but the Canadian one's a lot more heavy handed.

[00:29:51] Like, no, it's not a thing. You just got to make sure you set it up. They're like, you could only buy that one from Canada. We'll just have the US one sold out. Yeah. We're out, man. I don't know if we're going to... People really want to believe that Arizona is real. Oh my God. It's killing me. You get fucking institutionalized up in Canada. If you bring up Arizona, they're like, God damn it, Jerry. It doesn't exist. Stop.

[00:30:21] We're this close to telling everybody Utah also doesn't exist. Utah basically doesn't, man. Nobody lives in Utah. No, no, no, no. Our homeboy Jake from Pre-Odor Bonus, he lives in... Does he? He lives in Utah, I'm pretty sure. Not to dox him like that. Oh shit. What's up, Jake? The one person in Utah. Also, Danny, I see a world map. I'm sorry. When I see a world map, I call it out.

[00:30:47] And I see a world map and I can't put my finger on what world map that is. This, my friends, is Inkwell Isles 1 through 3 from Cuphead. Hell yeah, dude. That is a poster my buddy Connor got me for Christmas three or four years ago now. That is so nice. So it shows the whole Cuphead map. So sorry, it's Inkwell Isle 1, 2, 3, and Hell. And this was out before the DLC. So there's no Inkwell Isle 4 for the delicious last course.

[00:31:16] But yeah, it's... This is an audio podcast. So sorry, everybody. This is real thick. But here... Actually, what the fuck is that? Oh, sorry. That's my Arsene pop from Persona 5. Ooh. He's in the way. But here's Inkwell 1, you go up, and then here's 2, and then here's... Oh God, my finger's overextended. Here's 3, and then here's the devil in King's eyes. It's just bending this way. Yeah, yeah. I just feel that... Stretching, you know? That'd be some shit. That's cool.

[00:31:45] I do enjoy some Cuphead. I'm ashamed to admit, though, that I have not finished the DLC. That's okay. The DLC's tough. Yeah, the DLC's pretty rough. It's... I mean, good. Very, very good. But Jesus Christ, is that thing hard? Yep. Man, they weren't holding back on that thing. Yeah. Cuphead is probably the game I've beaten the most in my life. Hell yeah. Me and my buddy Kanai, we used to have a group channel.

[00:32:14] It was called Couch Gnomes. We did our first playthrough on there. In the middle of playing through it, we were struggling with Dr. Kale. So I remember going home and practicing, like, how do I beat this fucking boss? Came back, we beat it in the Let's Play. I did a brand new playthrough when it came to Switch. I had beaten on Xbox. It was the Xbox Play Anywhere now. I forget what it was called then, but you had the PC and the whatever version, like back in 2017. Beat it on PC, came to PlayStation, plattamed it.

[00:32:42] And then for stream, we were like, guys, we finished the story game we're playing. We still have an hour left. We want to speed run Cuphead. And then we just start the game, beat the game. Thanks for watching. And then call it a day. I really like Cuphead. I'm out of practice. I'm sure it'd probably take me like an hour and a half, two hours to beat it now. But yeah, on a good day. That's insane though. You see that like it's nothing. Like the way you're saying it like, yeah, pretty, pretty garbage these days. I probably take me fucking an hour and a half to play a game that would take Jerry probably

[00:33:11] six and a half hours to figure out how to beat the fucking last boss. That's pretty bad. Yeah, we just got to humble ourselves a little bit. I, I pride myself on being kind of ridiculously like almost twitch like reflexes with Mega Man. Okay. Like I am, I'll toot my own horn about Mega Man. Yeah.

[00:33:36] So Cuphead is like this natural, like, I gotta play that. Like I gotta play this game because it's, it's that type of thing, right? It's that precision, tough as nails, like platformer. Cuphead is different though. Cause it's like so boss rushy and even like the levels. Yes, absolutely. Like I, I actually, I remember getting that game and going, oh, I thought there'd be more levels, but then eventually I was like, oh, I don't care. Yeah.

[00:34:02] The bosses themselves are so like, they're a lot, they're a level themselves. Cause like you're, it's so many different phases and shit like that. Like, yeah, it's just, oh God. So you can't, you kind of like Cuphead a little bit. A little bit. I do like Cuphead a lot. Hell yeah. I think if there's any game that I think I could pride myself on being like, I was just going to ask you that. Yeah. Golden sun, man. I can, I can just breeze, like breeze through that game in a good, like, is that game difficult?

[00:34:32] I, some people like when I, when I did it, right. So I mean, to a degree when I, when I, we did it for a pre-order bonus. Those boys said it was kind of hard at parts, but like I, I breezed through it and like maybe fucking 10 hours or less. All right. But I've just played through it like a million times and I know where all the good shit is and those like hidden to gin and shit. Dude. I, I fucked up Claire obscure. Like I made that like, and that game is not fucking easy. Nope.

[00:35:02] Like that is, I feel like people like regular enjoyers of RPGs might've picked that up and went, what the fuck dude? Like, cause it, it pops off quick with the difficulty where it's like, Hey, you better get used to fucking parrying or else you're fucked. Yep. Yeah. Like that's the biggest thing I like about it. Cause like turn-based RPGs are not my thing. Like, like I'll always preface. I'm just like, I don't really like turn-based RPGs unless it's Pokemon or persona. Right? Like final fantasy is one.

[00:35:30] I would always try and not get into, but the moment we got seven remake, I'm like, okay, cool. This is more like kingdom hearts. I'll fuck this up. I still have to beat 16. I still have to play rebirth. I'm behind. I've, I've started three times that I get to the second icon fight. And I beat it. I'm like, sweet. Can't wait to keep going. And it gets away from me. Cause I got 17 million other things to play. So one day, one day I would like to see Clive story at the end. Um, but yeah, like Claire obscures when I'd been following since they announced, I'm like, this looks cool as shit. Yeah. I got a review key.

[00:35:58] Uh, I was fucking just by the throat sitting in this chair. Like, I just can't put this shit down. I don't want to stop. Then PAX came up and that's where I, my, my strut came to an end. I'm like, fuck, I, I want to keep going. Uh, I just got distracted with everything else post PAX. And now it's sitting on my console. Like, I'm not deleting you. I'm finishing this game. It's got to do it. So I know you said you only play Pokemon and persona when it comes to turn based RPGs.

[00:36:25] Have you ever fucked with a mainline Shin Megami Tensei game? I have not. I've, I watched, what was the last one we got for switch? Five. We make five. Five or no, I guess the newest one would be five vengeance. Yeah. What's five. Then what's the difference? Uh, five vengeance. It's like a persona for golden thing. Yeah. It adds new, more story shit, more demons and just a lot of extra shit. Gotcha. I've, I've always looked at them. They look cool.

[00:36:55] I think tonally it's less my thing. Um, I like, it's weird. I like the, the very stylized world of persona. I like the going to high school and studying and getting, taking the tests and, and social links, which I think is still similar to Shin Megami Tensei. But like persona five is where I started. And then I'm like, I want to go back and play for, but I'm like, I did the same thing with Skyrim. Like, let me go try oblivion. I'm like, yeah, this, this is ass. I can't go back. Yeah.

[00:37:23] So I had to wait for three reload, which I'm currently playing through, which I'm loving. Uh, and then they announced the four, whatever the subtitle was remake, uh, which I'm very excited for. So I can probably play four, but now I need to finish three before that happens. Cause then, then they'll announce six. And then I can finally be like, I get to play a new persona with the rest of the world. It's funny that you mentioned that too, that you don't normally like like a turn-based game because a close friend of mine, same thing. One of my, like the, there's three of us, like three, very close friends.

[00:37:53] One of my, my buddies and I, we were like all over this thing from the start. Like we were like, yep, this is happening. We love it. And then he picked it up and he was like, everybody's raving about this. Like maybe I should try it because he was like, he, he reluctantly got into Baldur's Gate three last two years ago, whenever that came out. And 20, oh God, 23, 23. I don't fuck. Don't tell me that might've been 23. I think it is 23. 23.

[00:38:21] Dude, if Baldur's Gate three came out in 2023, I don't lose my. That can't be right. That had to be 24. Right? God, please. Three release date. It was 23. Oh my God. It was late. 23. Last year. I don't think it was late. Uh, August, August 23. That's late. It's not that late. Yeah. Wait, what was game of the year? 2024. At the Keely's at the Keely's my homeboy. Was it Toronto? Was it Astro bot then? Yes, it was Astro.

[00:38:50] Yeah, it was. I was like, what even came out last year? Yeah. Damn. Fuck. Yeah, I know. That's that hurt a little bit. I thought that was like literally like eight months ago. Um, but yeah, so he reluctantly got into that and loved it. So then he was like, I hate turn based games, but the only ones I've ever liked is Super Mario RPG. And that has time to hits. And this game has time to hits. You think I'll like it. I'm like, dude, you should. It's on game pass. Fuck it. Like throw it on. Might as well. Right. Yeah.

[00:39:21] He got hooked and he was like, dude. So I know I don't normally like these games, but like what other ones should I play now? Like what other turn based games are like this? I'm like, honestly, nothing's really like this, but we can try to steer you down the right path. And the first game that we directed him to upon completing Claire obscure was Dragon Quest 11.

[00:39:42] And the purpose was we were like, this is not going to be as intense in the way of like the gameplay itself as Claire obscure. Claire obscure is one of a kind, in my opinion, with the way that the combat works. But the thing that Dragon Quest has is just such a fucking good, charming adventure. And like you just kind of get sucked into this world and you don't ever want to leave.

[00:40:10] And he even admitted he was like, he was like starting a little slow. And I'm like, yeah, dude, you got to realize this is like a hundred hour game, like at a minimum. Damn. And you're like at our five. You haven't done anything. And now he's at the point where he's in like crazy shit is going down in this game that he's like, whoa, like I thought this was going to be like baby's first RPG. But now shit's getting real. It's get emotional. And like, yeah, he's he's all the way in.

[00:40:38] And now he's like, OK, where should I go next? And me and my friend have both agreed the next game has to be Chrono Trigger. OK, I don't know. Like that's the lineage for turn based games for me. I can't attest to it because I haven't played Chrono Trigger. I am in the spot where I'm like, if you give me the Final Fantasy seven rebirth of Chrono Trigger, I'm all the fuck in. That'll probably be the way I play Chrono Trigger. You should. Which I know. I get it. I get it.

[00:41:08] I understand. You're going to make your stamp his foot. This is what's going to make it worse. Step on that Shin Megami Tensei five, man. Like, that's the only thing that really comes close to how like intense the combat is in Claire Obscure. Like you have to really think ahead and plan ahead. Not like there's no parries or dodges or anything like that or timed hits. But dude, like every every battle is so fucking intense. And then and then it's got a little like kind of like a little hint of Pokemon.

[00:41:37] You're catching demons and fusing them together to make more powerful demons and teaching them new moves and passive abilities and shit. Oh, so good. It is. I mean, one day just there's such long games where I'm sitting here with I still have metaphor on the shelf again, rebirth and N16 on the show. Cool hot tip. Just such commitment. Cool hot tip. They're shorter than persona and metaphor. You can fair. You can you can. That's fair.

[00:42:04] Shin Megami Tensei five in like 50 hours. Okay. Oh, really? Yeah. Here's the thing. Did you start metaphor yet, Danny? I played the demo when it was on PlayStation. That's all I've touched. It's good. It's yeah, I'll say it's very good. It's fantastic. Even that game is 14 hours too long. Okay. It goes about days gone. Oh shit. How long is days gone?

[00:42:31] Did you read my bio and take that shot on me on purpose, Danny? Cause now you love days. God, man. Listen, I think days gone is an awesome 10 hour game trapped in a 60 hour game. Holy shit. I thought you said 16. Dude, to be fair. I still got the platinum. There was a lot of shit to do, but there was it there. If I recall, that was what? 20, 21, 2020, maybe when that came out, maybe before, you know what? The good thing. It's been a while. The best thing about days gone is the story.

[00:43:01] Yeah, I think the story beats and it's not because a lot of them are taken out of context. Like the promise to ride me as much as you ride your bike. I'm like, that is really fucking cringe. But I forget there was the, like, someone said it like genuinely. And then she said it jokingly. Like, oh, she was referring to the other thing. I think. It's been so long. Like, okay. It was a little more endearing in the context of the story. Yes. Out of context is just a clip. Like, yeah, it's really fucking cringy. Please don't. I don't know why you had to record that. I did enjoy the story.

[00:43:28] I really liked again, the 10 hours of days gone. That should have been days gone. And the horde fights are really cool, too. I love doing all those. Yeah, it was a fun thing. But yeah, I don't know. Most of days gone is world. I think that's not at all. And that's that's my complaint in the last five years is does this need to be open world? I don't think it. I don't think everything needs to be open world. I'll you know what I my favorite is and I've said it a million times. I really enjoy a semi open world.

[00:43:56] Give me like like in Claire obscure, you know, you got the world map. Sure. That's not that's not really that's that's more my speed fill it full of like a nice condensed tight like every little nook and cranny is explorable. Like I want to look under everything, but give me like areas that are a little bit open. Not a giant interconnected. I don't need that anymore. Yeah, I feel like I feel like massive open world games like that.

[00:44:22] I'm like there's certain like exclusions to what I'm about to say, but for the most part, a lot of them just feel like a cliche of like the 2010s. Yeah, okay. You know what I mean? Yeah, like a lot of the time they're just devoid of anything like meaningful to do. It'll just be like, oh, look at this house. You can't go in it or do anything with it, but it's a house. It's just there because it's an open world and there's lots of houses. Like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

[00:44:51] Yes. Oh, okay. So here's the thing though. I just want to say I am playing Violet right now. Mm hmm. And I do really really like things about Violet. Oh, yeah, I do. Yeah, I do. There's there's a lot of things that I love about it, but they fumbled the fuck out of that world. Yeah. Yeah. Cool.

[00:45:18] Yeah, I was gonna say I'm like I was I was waiting for you and we're just like, yeah, dude, I love that game. Like, let me tell you why you're wrong. So I love like 20% of Scarlet and Violet. I love all the new Pokemon. Yeah, I know everyone's got their bitch fits like these Pokemon suck. I will go to my grave saying Brux this is an ugly ass fucking Pokemon. I know it's like Brux. I'm there with you, bro. Shouldn't exist. Fuck right. Like I know a lot of people out there don't love my skull villain. That's my baby. My little two headed pepper. I can love that little guy.

[00:45:48] He's amazing. I love school. Bill. Yep. That being said coming off the heels of Scarlet Legends Arcus Legends Arceus right that we love. Arcus. I was saying Arcus. Everyone's like Arceus or Arcus. That's okay. But. So I'll have your finest Arcus. Your finest Arcus. I love to shiny. I don't do shiny hunting, but doing it in Legends Arceus. I'm like, oh, this is fun. This is a new way to do it. And people complain. It's too easy. Blah, blah, blah. Great.

[00:46:15] And then Scarlet and Viate's like, let's make this the worst experience you could possibly have. Because to do that, you're going to need to make these sandwiches, right? You get the sandwiches. They're going to increase your shiny odds. Now you need the ingredients for these sandwiches. And now you go to the store and buy some, but you can't buy all of them. So I'm going to do these raids. Oh yeah. That's right. The raids in sword and shield, which won't say perfect, but compared to Scarlet and Violet, basically perfect. But Scarlet and Viate's like, oh, you want to take on this raid boss? Awesome. He gets nine attacks before you get your first one because it lags so damn much.

[00:46:44] You're going to land an attack that's on a hit, but it's not going to do anything. Then he's going to wipe out the entire team. Then the damage happens, but you've already lost all your lives. So you don't get to compete. So the whole thing is just functionally not built to be a fun experience. But then they're like, by the way, we put out our brand new event where you can get this super mega version of Charizard. I'm like, I don't fucking care. I can't do it because I have to, I have to bite the curb to do 10% of his health and then be like, oh, so close. And then I got to go watch freaking Austin. John plays guide on the perfect thing.

[00:47:12] And then I got to go grind these Pokemon up because I'd get the perfect IVs. I could ramble for a minute about how much I hate fucking Scarlet and Violet. I just, I get so frustrated thinking about how Scarlet and Violet was like the opportunity to do something really, really great. And again, there's things that are really, really great. I enjoy the cut scenes. I think it's a really cool step forward for Pokemon, but that's a really unfortunate thing to say that in 2022 was our first like real, real venture into what Pokemon could be at this point.

[00:47:41] And we're just, I don't know if it's a Nintendo or a game freak or a combination of both thing where I'm like, fuck Pokemon should not be this lazy. It's I hate it. It really fucking sucks, man. Cause for the longest time I thought sun and moon was like, was the fucking best. Even though everybody else seems to just disagree hard with me for some reason, but they made breeding super easy. The battles were a lot fucking quicker. Like everything about it was just so much better. And they had that cool online mode where you could battle like you and a friend could battle

[00:48:11] together against the enemies in the battle tree and shit. That was really cool. And then they took that out in a, uh, what sword and shield. Yeah. That sounds right. Yeah. Scarlet. Fuck. There's been great stuff. It just fuck. It was almost so cool. Like I love exploring the world in Scarlet and Violet, except number one, there's nothing to look at. Number two, there's empty. There's no reason to explore because you don't get anything that means a damn.

[00:48:40] It'll be like, Oh, here's a TM for like growl or tail whip or something stupid. That's the other thing is that we step backwards with TMS, TMS became permanent. You just had that in your bag and he used it. But now I'm like, Oh cool. I got hyper beam. I can't wait to give this all my Pokemon. No, it only works one time. What is this? 1922. That's like, that is so frustrating that TM. TMS are one time use again. Isn't it? That is so idiotic. Aren't there like two types of TMS? There's like some.

[00:49:07] So there's like the HMS, which you don't use HMS anymore, but there were some TMS that were consistent, but some that weren't. But I think it was like, I forget. I hated Scarlet and Violet. I've wiped it out of my head. Oh yeah. My buddy are going to do a soul link. Eventually we want to do a soul link of Scarlet and Violet. But I think that may be the last time I ever play that game in my life. It was so frustrating that it exists. It was the, it was the good moves that were like the temporary one use once. And then all the, like the kind of like mid to shitty moves were the ones that were permanent or whatever. Tail whip, use it, whatever you want.

[00:49:44] So Danny, I got a, I got a suggestion for you too. Um, okay. So shimmygama tansu. When, no, it's not even, not even remotely close to them. But as somebody that struggles to find some free time every once in a while, I think like me, you probably enjoy a good, like something like a, like a really tight four to five hour game is like, you just lick your chops. Right. You're just like, Oh fuck.

[00:50:14] I'll fuck this up twice on a weekend. I don't give a shit. Right. So how do you feel about horror games? Oh, hit or miss hit or miss. I usually, I will usually not play them unless it's for stream. It's just not the genre that's really for me, but chat enjoys them. So I will find ones that I enjoy. I think this is just a suggestion. Still wakes the deep. No, that was okay. I enjoyed that one a lot, but also I have the fuck at whatever the fucking fear of the ocean is. I fucking hate that word.

[00:50:44] I fucking hate the ocean. Oh yeah. The ocean sucks. The ocean's not good. Um, I derailed anyway. It's not, it's not that I would suggest that you play faith. The unholy Trinity. Yeah. It is quite short. It's like five hours long. It's in broken up into three parts. It looks like an Atari game. And I'm going to promise you right now, you will never be more scared in your life playing a game that looks like this.

[00:51:10] Cause I got so many jump scares that I almost leapt out of my fucking skin. Ooh, what do we have here? Yeah. I recognize the logo. I recognize it's on my wishlist too. So I haven't seen it at some point. Yeah. I'm just looking back. I'm like, where did I see this? This game? I played this. I recently was like, I went on a trip and I was gone for about a week and I took my switch to, and I, it was on sale on that summer sale and it was cheap.

[00:51:39] Like three or $4. Okay. And I was like, you know what? Yeah. So I was like, fuck it. I'm going to grab this. And I played it. And dude, I was on the plane playing this and I was jumping in my seat. Cause it, it legit. Cause it, it legit. Like what will happen is a cut scene will quickly trigger of like a rotoscoped, like fucking demon with a hand coming out of its mouth. And it just happens.

[00:52:08] Well, that's what it is. It like the cut scenes are all rotoscoped and it looks the best way to put it as like, it's, it's frightening because it's so odd looking and like all the dialogue and the, like from part two onward is all done. Like that weird, like speak and spell. Like, Oh no, daddy. What have you done?

[00:52:35] Like, and it's so grimy and you're just like, Oh, huh? Yeah. And it ends up being like silent hill meets the exorcist by the time you hit like part two. It's fucked. It's so fucked. Very positive. Recent reviews, overwhelmingly positive overall, almost 7,000. Yeah. Oh, I've got another good one. Here's one fishing vacation. It's like, uh, it's like, it's like a game boy color style game.

[00:53:04] And at first it's just like, Oh, you and a friend go to a cabin and you're fishing. Uh, but there's some real sinister shit happening there. It takes like maybe a place, like a play through or two to get to the real spooky shit. So I mean, if you're careful, you can play through the game and just fish. Then just have a good old fit fashion fishing time. Yeah. Okay. It's pretty cool. I'll put on the worst list. Yeah. Or quick games, man. Mouth washing. Oh, mouth washing. Mouth washing.

[00:53:33] That was a fucking masterpiece. Battery time. Yeah. Yeah. That title theme, dude. Dun. Dun. Dun. Dun. Mm hmm. I was, I was a big fan. It was, it was one that like, I don't blame my community, but there was, they were all so gung ho about it. They'd all watched it. They all played it. They loved it. And I am very much, sometimes I'll speak out loud, but I'm thinking like what's going

[00:53:59] on in the moment or like a game like mouth washing is one where I'm prepared for misdirection. So I want to start to go out and say like, blah, blah, blah is happening. Right. And there's a reveal with Anya where she talks about what's happening. I'm like, hmm, she didn't use names. So I'm not going to assume she's referring to this one person versus this person. So like, I didn't say anything, but like my chat was like, guys, I think he missed it. I think he missed the point. I don't think he understood Danny. You missed it. You don't like guys, guys. I understood. I just don't think that's the final part of that.

[00:54:28] But it was a lot of like, not my Danny feel dumb, but felt like Danny didn't have any media literacy because he didn't immediately go. I've seen everything you guys have watched 14 hours of behind the scene videos about on YouTube because you watch Matt, Pat talk about the mouthwash. Yeah. I'm like, because I didn't have that in my three hours of playing the game one night. I was like, guys, shut the fuck up. Let me go for a second. Yeah, let me let me experience the game. That's and like not take away from mouthwash. I had fantastic time. It's amazing.

[00:54:57] I were part of the Indie Game Awards nomination crew for last year's awards. And we were like, yeah, this has to be nominated for every category we can think of. Well, I think the way six one they try to diversify as much as they could and get everyone a nomination. But still, we're like, yeah, mouthwashing, please. Yeah. Have you heard of Crow Country? Yeah. Love that one, too. Didn't beat it, but I love it. I just finished that last weekend. And yeah, that one. That's a good one, man. Yeah, it's like it's awesome.

[00:55:26] It's like like oddly scary to like sometimes you're just like, oh, I don't like this. This is a weird thing. But like it sounds that the tank control parts weird, right? But like I didn't like the tank controls bad. So I didn't mind it. I normally I'd be like, no, tank controls are terrible. But there's a modern twist to it that I wish I could explain as someone who didn't play classic Resident Evils at the time. My Resident Evil experiences are the remakes and like, you know, you can use regular controls in that game, right? Right.

[00:55:54] Because that's how I played Crow Country, because I found the right tank because honestly, I love tank controls. I'll play those old Resident Evil games and I'll fuck them up in tank control. Yeah, no problem. But for some reason, Crow Country, because you had to move the camera around so much manually, the tank controls don't really work. It's like right when you use the tank controls, it automatically will move the camera for you. And I was like, I don't really like that. So I ended up just playing with analog and moving like the the camera like manually.

[00:56:24] And it felt a lot better that way. But yeah, that game that game is great. I'm a fan of Crow Country. Very cool one. I got to a lot like from what I understood, I was very close to the end. I was in like the underground shifting metal crates and giant circular platforms. I'm like, I guess I'm towards the end of this or at least the latter half. And I just finished it on stream. We'll get back to this and just didn't get around to it again. But yeah, would sing the praise of somebody who doesn't like horror like that. Crow Country is a really cool one. Yeah, it's the classics.

[00:56:53] It's a good play through. I texted the group chat today too, that I bought more. I can't, I can't stop fucking buying games like Jesus Christ, these fucking steam sales and shit.

[00:57:20] So and like the switch summer sale ever since I got my switch to I'm just like, oh, I just want every indie game ever to live on my switch to because like, it's I don't know. I feel like the switch to is just my ultimate indie machine where I want to play all my indie games and all my Nintendo games. But like, I'm not gonna play. I'm not gonna play cyberpunk on my switch to like, I'll play that on my PC because I can still run it better.

[00:57:44] But there's certain things like back a room that I was like, oh, you know what? Fuck it. It's fucking time that I finally buy this goddamn game. I love go I'm on so much. There's no there's no excuse why I haven't bought this game and it got a free upgrade on switch to nice locked 60 frames per second now. Oh, yeah, what is this game back back a room?

[00:58:13] B a K E R U and it is technically a it's like a spirit. Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. It's like a spiritual successor to go I'm on. Yeah, and it definitely feels that way. I threw it on last night. It has like a world map that you go to levels. It's got like a really weird quirky charm like in the levels like the like one of the collectathon things that you pick up is like this little guy named scoop that looks like a pile of shit.

[00:58:39] Okay. Yeah, he literally it looks like a golden pile of shit when you meet him back or you or like the main character, whatever his name is. He's like, yo, I almost stepped in you and I thought you were something else. And it's like, oh, what did you think I was? And like he's even being like, you look like a pile of shit like your golden shit. And when you find this little shit pile in the levels, all he does is give you a really weird like tidbit of information about Japan.

[00:59:08] Like it's just so quirky and like kind of charming. And yeah, oh my God, the combat is is really good too. Aaron, you would fucking love this game. It's on my wish list, man. Ever since you brought it up forever ago, like last month or whatever. Yeah, it's been on my wish list and I it's like what? Twenty three bucks now. It was thirty four ninety nine Canadian.

[00:59:35] So, yeah, it's probably around the twenty four mark for you. I'm going to have to trigger. You should because it's it's like if you're into action platformer type of things, it's definitely very good. But honestly, like I we were like my buddy came over. He had a bunch of shit. We were checking out a bunch of stuff. Dude, have you ever heard of Demon's Turf? Yeah, yeah. That game is really fucking cool, dude. I was shocked by how cool that was.

[01:00:03] It was basically like Super Mario 64. Like it even has like the same controls of Super Mario 64. We're like if you run one way and then, you know, jolt back the other way, the opposite direction with analog and then jump. She does like a cartwheel in the air thing. There's a lot of different moves she can do, dude. It's nuts. I didn't realize how old this game was. Which one Demon's Turf? Demon's Turf. It's like 2021, isn't it? Yeah. For some reason, like I was last year, dude. I know it sucks.

[01:00:33] It's wild. It sucks, dude. Dude, but I haven't been able to put down Shira and the Wanderer. Okay. I forget the full name of the subtitles. It's really long. I think it's like Tower of the Tower of Fate and the Dice of Fortune or some shit like that. But it's like one of those mystery dungeon roguelike games where you're just like going through pick up weapons and a shield or whatever. And you can bring party members in with you.

[01:01:01] Each of them does something different that'll help you in the dungeon. And you're just supposed to get to the top and it's just it gets harder and harder and harder. And there's all sorts of traps and what's called like a like a monster house, which is like a room packed with monsters. And they're just annihilating your fucking party. And yeah, it's just it's nuts like those and like mystery like Pokemon mystery dungeon. Those are those are good shit. Yeah, I love those. I am.

[01:01:30] I threw on rogue heroes for dollar when he was over it. Oh, hell. And he was like, what the fuck is this? And where has it been? I was like, dude, I know that's like insane. This is fucking four swords, but like rogue. And I was like, yeah. And then like we did the we did the first dungeon. He started a new save file like on my thing. So we started like fresh. We did the first dungeon and almost got the boss in one run.

[01:01:59] And once he's seen the loop, like when you go back to town, you start building the town up and like that's how you get your upgrades. He was like, what the fuck is this game? And I was like, dude, I know. I know it's like on paper. This game is like a dream come true. And now we're all excited because like when my buddy comes to visit from Shanghai in August, like the three of us are going to play this game like couch co-op. It's going to be fucking Danny. Have you played this game? I've not. I've not. I know of it, but I've not played it. Is it something that you'd be into?

[01:02:30] Like, do you like rogue games? Yes. I hold on. I might like this. No of ruins of Tosca. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Like, yes, I, this is when I think the visual styles, not something that immediately grabs me. Yeah. Which in a lot of cases, what usually gets me in the door. And like, I double check. I'm like, I know, I know this game exists, but it's not my wish list.

[01:02:59] I think a past Danny has decided he probably won't play this one. I definitely like the vibe of it. It looks like one that if someone was looking for like a Zelda-esque, or you've already mentioned four swords. So that was like, yeah, it looks like that vibe, but I don't know. It's one that I'd put time into. I was reluctant to pull the trigger too, based on the look. I was like, yeah, it looks a little like juvenile or something like it just, it looks a little undercooked, but then once, cause it was on sale for such a deep discount. I was like, sure, whatever, who cares? Let's just try it right now. Two bucks on steam. There you go.

[01:03:28] So we fired up and dude, we played for what? Three and a half hours. Oh my God. Yeah. Like we, we started it and we could not fucking put it down. We like built the whole town in one sitting. It was crazy. And then I found myself going back afterwards and being like, I'm just going to do one run, do one run. I can get like an upgrade. Like it ends up being that kind of game where you're like, sure. Even if nobody's on, you're like, I'm just going to do a run.

[01:03:55] I could, I can probably upgrade like this class, like a couple of pegs. Oh yeah. And there's different classes too. And they all have like their own little, their own little pros and cons. Like there's the night who's really beefy, but he's slow. There's the witch who she can like throw potions with extra effects and ride on a broom. Um, yeah, it's, it's really anybody who's into Zelda and even remotely likes, honestly,

[01:04:19] like this is probably one of the most accessible roguelikes I've played though, because the reason is you, there's not like a massive penalty to dying. Do you know what I mean? Like, like you, when you go into the dungeons, you, you collect gems and those gems are what you use to upgrade your, all of your stats and like build the town and shit like that. You don't lose those when you die.

[01:04:49] So like when you die or finish the dungeon, you go back to town and then you can spend all your shit. But the only time that you lose your gems is if you go back into the dungeon, it takes them all away. So like the penalty is not that bad. And honestly, like it's not as punishing as some of the other roguelikes that I've ever played. Like it's not, it's not like Hades. It's not like that. But yeah, I would say like if anybody's even remotely interested in trying a roguelike,

[01:05:16] I would probably suggest this one to them as like a baby's first roguelike. But it was tough. Yeah, Aaron, you were not alive for almost all of that. Yeah, man, I forget. The leeches killed me. The leeches got me. You can't get fucked up. I've been doing that. What else have you been playing Danny's or anything else you've been playing? You haven't told us about what else we've been playing. I mean, just before we sat down to play here, the guys and I started to play peak the new one from aggro crab and landfall.

[01:05:47] It is, it's almost like repo meets getting over. I keep hearing about repo. Repo? Oh, dude. You know, lethal company. Yeah. I have. Yeah. That is just a little more charming. You play in these little like robot dudes. You kind of have like the Muppet, like flapping mouth. It's a mountain climbing game. Oh, yes. So peak is a mountain climbing game where it's you and four friends. You're climbing up a mountain. It it's I don't know the sequence of it, but it's like procedure generated and every so

[01:06:15] often the whole map resets. So like you'll start like we've done. We do like five or six runs tonight. We got really high. It's so dope. We're talking report. We talk at peak right now. I'm looking at peak. Cool. Yes. And I also want to get very high and play this game. Yeah, it's really fun. It's the proximity chat thing where we all got a discord call. We muted and we're talking in game. The environment changes things. So like as you're like roaming through caves, it gets so disgusting.

[01:06:40] We had to turn each other down a little bit, but it's like the going throughout like caves. I'm like, homie. I don't know what you said. You have to whisper that one. He's like, sorry. Hey, there's a thing up here. We can climb up. It's still echoes like all right, cool. I understood your sentence that time because you whispered it and it's it's there's items you can pick up. You take damage, which depletes your stamina, please. It's great. The game is awesome. I had a blast playing it tonight. Me and my buddy.

[01:07:08] So my buddy Nerdstorm came to us like, hey, do you want to play this? Me and my buddy Chris hopped on. We got our buddy Connor as a fourth huge fan of these type of games. These like proximity chat party kind of games like it is very much a roguelike in one of the ways that I love where it's like a roguelike looks like this. You're like psych. Here's how we mix up the formula and the fact that is a mountain climbing adventure that will change. You'll go to load up the map and it's like this is a brand new map. It's not like your call duties where you pull up.

[01:07:37] We always have the favela. We always have a firing range like it is the map will change and you and your friends are going to try to climb to the top in a brand new way each not each time, but each time they recycle the map. It's really dope. I had a great time with our three ish hours. We played tonight died a lot, but but like you can you have a friend gets up who has more stamina and you're like a little less you can like climb up behind them and you can like use the right click to like grab their hands. They can like pull you up if you pick up items that increases your weight, which takes

[01:08:06] up your stamina bar. So you have to like kind of use items or drop items or if your friend has the backpack put them in there. So you're kind of sharing like who's using what space. There's an additional stamina bar. It's like energy. So if you use up your stamina, take like a reserve bar which won't recharge, but it will prevent you from just falling and dying. We've only made it to the second area. So there's probably so much more to explore. I don't know how tall the whole world is, but it's just a gas. It's just that goofy like be loud with your friends and scream at each other like the amount of times we're like, all right, let's just we'll see you can get up there.

[01:08:35] And in the this you're like, you just come around. You just see like one of your friends is plummeting down. I'm like bye Chris got him. Oh, this sounds amazing. Dude, Aaron, this would be crazy. I just bought it. Greg and Beth. Yeah, I did this by it. Yeah, it's on it. Totally totally tell Beth and Greg to buy it. Yeah, this is this is yeah, it's only it's so cheap. I love what they're doing with with co-op games now, man.

[01:09:04] Like, yeah, for the longest time, it felt like co-op was literally just first or third person shooters. And that was it. Now there's puzzle games. There's fucking rock climbing roguelikes. There's games like repo and lethal edge where it's like, yeah, or not. So I have a question. I stand in these dude. I have a question. Can you beat peak? I assume I assume there's an end like you could reach the top of the mountain. I've not watched a lot of people play. I've seen like the goofy clips of friends dying or, you know, the dumbness happening. But tonight's the first time I really put any time into it.

[01:09:34] We've only made it to like we made the first like not even a checkpoint like milestone. There's like statues where like if your friends die, you can go there, talk to the statue and revive everybody who's died. We've gotten to that and now we're in like a jungle area, but we keep getting to a point like I don't know where to go from. So is there like saves as of right now? No, it's the roguelike thing of like if so, if you get the jungle, then you're done. Like if you die there, you'll restart. So you drop down into an airport. It's you with your passport. All right, let's start the level.

[01:10:04] Like it's like you compared to Hades, right? Like you die. You come out of the pool of blood. You run in, go to the portal, start your next run. It's basically that you climb as high as you can get. If three of your friends are like the amount of times tonight where three of us died and our buddy Connor is the only one like patiently going up, he's like, I'm not sure where to go. This might be the way. And then he climbs up and then like a mushroom pops, which blows him off the wall. And then he just plums a million feet. It's like, okay, well, he's dead. We're starting over now. You see the impact. Bam, it's over. So you start over. You're all fresh. No inventory. You spot on the shore.

[01:10:34] There's a crash plane. You pick up to like the instruction guide. Usually there's some one or two items that'll spawn, which will get you started. There's briefcases all around that give you. Um, pitons, which you can use to, you know, hunker down and recharge your stamina. Uh, there's ropes. There's as you get higher, there's like a chain gun. So you can like shoot a chain across and climb over it. Um, cause there's a different tools to like progress further. Uh, but yes, as of right now, there's a scene to be any, there wasn't easy mode. Um, we didn't play it. It seemed like if anything, it was more like your stamina drain slower.

[01:11:03] Um, that might have like checkpoint checkpoints. I can't say for sure. I didn't try it, but. Hmm. That's still really cool, man. Yeah. It's really cool. Yeah. Oh, hit us up sometime. I'm down to play. Oh yeah, dude. Uh, I'm going to get it right now. Do it. I just did too. I think I got a steam summer sale trading card to whatever the fuck that is. Probably as it goes in inventory that no one looks at.

[01:11:30] I have so many of those steam like purchase points that I never, and I think you get them for review codes to just redeeming something. So they're always like, you want to go to the steam like point store. I'm like, what can I get? Like, do you want a border? I'm like a fucking, huh? I don't. I think I have a moonlighter border on now. I'm like, I don't need another one. I don't need to change anything. I just leave this one. Yeah. I bought like a green goopy slime one. And I've had that since I got my fucking laptop. Like yeah. Fucking four years ago. And like, that's all I need. That's all we need. I just bought peak.

[01:12:00] It's yeah. Oh, it's the end of an era. The other question I was going to ask to have you guys. How do you, how do you feel? Wait, I don't know if I asked you, Danny, did you get a switch to? I did not. Okay. I am. I am sold on the games.

[01:12:30] I'm not sold on the platform right now. Um, if I had bought a switch, I don't think I would get my money's worth out of Mario Kart right now. Just like. If all four of my friends are all my group of friends had switched to is we're all playing Mario Kart maybe, but I would essentially be getting the console to race in Mario Kart when I'm like, I go downstairs and play my Indies instead. I really want to play Donkey Kong. I gassed out for Kirby air rider. Like I love that as a kid. I'm very excited to play it again.

[01:12:57] I will hopefully one day get a switch to and then just pile up on the games. It's a Nintendo tax. They won't go down in price, but pick up those games at some point and play those on the switch to later down the line. But. Hell yeah. We'll see. I got my Steam Deck right now. It's hard for me to play Nintendo stuff. Yeah. Steam Deck's good. I am. I started playing. Um, is this game trying to kill me recently? Okay. Yeah. I love that game. It's pretty decent. Like it's love that game.

[01:13:27] It's kind of like, I don't want to say inscription. Like it's kind of the first thing that you think about when you throw it on. Yeah. Stylistically, it's an escape Academy. It's definitely not a deal. Inscription. Like it's. Yeah. It's its own thing. It's more of like. If you took the, the, the first person parts of inscription, the exploring the room and solving the puzzles and how to progress. It's very much that still, I think it's misleading for some, but yeah, like if you've played escape Academy or escape room simulator, it is your, you're in a room.

[01:13:56] Uh, you're exploring around. I'm sorry. I'm explaining the game you're talking about. That's okay. You're exploring the room, solving puzzles. And then there's a PC in the room, which sometimes those puzzles will bounce off each other. Or like you solve something in the game, which activates something in the real world within the game, which then activate something else in the PC game. So it's a lot of back and forth. And I was a huge fan of that one. I think it was my number like four or five favorite indie last year. Yeah. It's good. It's really fucking cool. It's really fun. And it's not a long, it's not a long game.

[01:14:25] I probably, I just got into the basement recently and the color went all fucky. Yeah. That's cool. Yeah. It's a game. Yeah. You know what though? Speaking about co-op and escape rooms. So my buddy that lives in Shanghai, him and I try it like because of the fucking crazy time, time difference. Usually Saturdays I'll get up or cause I just wake up early anyways. And then it's like nighttime, his time, like the next day.

[01:14:55] And we usually try to play like some co-op shit. Like we played through all of it takes two. We played split fiction together. Uh, we beat spelunky two together. Okay. So we were like really struggling. We were like, man, what are we going to play now after split fiction? And we stumbled upon. We were here forever. Yeah. Yeah. I've never been fucking brain humbled so fast in my life where I'm like, well, for starters,

[01:15:22] number one, I'm like, I don't, I thought it was smarter than this. I thought it was way smarter than this. And then two, you realize my friend can't fucking communicate himself out of a fucking paper bag. Like he communications awful. You just start learning the things about your friends. Dude, use your fucking words. Tell me what you see. And he's like, dude, it's just fucking shapes. I'm like, but what the fuck do they look like? Yeah.

[01:15:50] It's I, I, again, I escape Academy was probably one of the first like escape room games that I played. And I fell in love with that. It's sitting on my PlayStation. I played on game pass. I want to get the platinum on PlayStation. It's just, it's sitting there. I just gotta go back and play it. They just announced escape Academy two during SGF. And I'm like, I was at a wedding during the showcase. So I didn't see like day of the devs, anything going on. So I get to SGF this year and I see the booth. I'm like, what's that? Like what escape account? No, no, that says two. Like, yeah, they announced it. I'm like, when? Like yesterday.

[01:16:20] I'm like, I was on a plane. I didn't get to see that. I didn't know where we get an escape Academy two. That's amazing. I'm so happy for me. Like, I love those. And like the co-op ones are great too. And like we are here are a franchise. Me and my buddy are like, we should play through these. I have my buddy. Can I would do, we did all the, the haze light ones, you know, a way out split fiction. It takes two. We've done Blanc, which is another great one. We've done river tales, which is another great one. We just did parallel experiment.

[01:16:51] That one wasn't so great, man. I wanted to like that game more than I did. But yeah, we are. We are here is I'm like, this is a franchise. We should get into. We should try it. I think we'd it's tough and hate each other, but we'll do it. It's fucking tough, man. Like the puzzles are like not easy at all. Like nothing is easy about this game. You know what? What a good multiplayer game is to completely ruin your fucking friendship. That's not Mario Party. It's crawl.

[01:17:21] I don't know if you've ever played. Crawl is so good. My back in our old apartment, my my wife, my brother in law, sister in law, we would all play that fucking game. And it got so fucking intense all the time. Like what? What? One person at the TV. Yeah. Like one person playing the hero and just and you're like throwing your best fucking monsters at them and they're still winning. It's like, no, no, fuck. No.

[01:17:49] You know, the loudest I've ever screamed at a game in like a co-op setting like that is Nidhogg. Yeah, dude. I've never. I've never stood up longer and screamed longer at my friend. Like he's like I'm screaming at his face while he's trying to get. Yeah, dude. That game brings out something in me and I don't know. It's primal man. An emotional adventure.

[01:18:17] I loved it was our one of our college is we had like this. The the folder on the PS4 of like what are our couch games? We had Towerfall Ascension. We had tricky towers. Oh, it was in there. Trees are so much fucking fun. We had the dumb bit. We're like we would do the who could stack it till everyone fell. Right. And you got the little house as your trophy. And we were like, ah, time to place the breakfast nook. You're supposed to put it on top of your. We would let it fall like halfway down and then slam it into the side. So we kind of go like, like often like all weird and wonky.

[01:18:45] We're like, ah, right where it belongs. I love my tricky tower days. But yeah, crawls in our folder. I was I'm a shit. We play crawl because I like to go for the fucking squid and I'll chase people down and be like squee squee. That's my whole fucking really annoying doing that. Like Danny fucking suck squee squee and chase people around the room. Fucking love it. I want to crawl to. I feel like that's something I got announced or or I'm making that up in my head. I don't know. Like have those devs. They must have done something. I would imagine.

[01:19:15] Right. But let me see. Crawl. I don't know what it is about overcooked, but I get like fucking. Yeah, I get up the fuck set with the overcooked. Like I get almost. I can't. Yeah, I've I played overcooked with Karen once. And when it got down to the point where I was like, Karen, do you not know the difference between a fucking tomato and a goddamn onion? She just put the controller down. She was like, you know what? Don't got to take this shit. And she just like went upstairs. I was like, well, like what do we got to finish the level though?

[01:19:45] And she's like, no, I'm not fucking playing games with you. You're going to be an asshole. And I was like, well, you clearly don't know the difference between fucking tomato and an onion. When we play with our same group. Yeah. Me, my wife, brother in law, sister in law. I would be on my sister in law. Like wash the dishes. Corey, stop coming into the kitchen. Just go back and wash the dishes. Turn up. Like she'd be blocking like the one way to get to where you drop off food on the conveyor belt. Like turn around.

[01:20:12] Watch the fucking like I'd just be screaming, dude. Hey, so I have good news. Yes. Yes. The developers of crawl have a new game coming out on July the 17th. Yes. And it looks fucking wild. It's like it's an adventure game. It is awesome. I didn't realize the same devs. So it's called the drifter. It's a point and click adventure. The drift. I think he plays like the drifter. Yes, it is fucking sick. I should now looking at the style.

[01:20:42] Like, oh, of course it's the same guys. I played the demo for this like five steam next fest ago and fucking fell in love. This has been on my wish list for years now, years, two years probably. Um, but like, yeah, I'm doing my July video. This is on there. I'm excited to talk about the drifter. Uh, and the moment I pulled up, I'm like power hoof. I know that. Why is it like the drifter? Yeah. This game looks sick. The demos on steam, please try it. This is for everyone on the podcast. I'm listening to the podcast. This game looks fucking sick.

[01:21:08] Like I know point and clicks are very like, not niche, but like there's the, oh, I need a ladder. Why can't I just use this ladder? No, I have to find the sticks and I have to use my shoelaces tied into a rope ladder. That way I can actually use it. Like I get it. Point and clicks do weird shit. Sometimes, uh, the drifter was awesome. It's very grungy. It's very dark. Like I said, I want to say it's like a homeless man trying to solve a murder mystery type deal, or maybe it's just a detective. Yeah, but it's, it's so fucking sick. It's very pulpy, like noir kind of setting.

[01:21:39] Thriller. I don't want to spoil the demo for those. But yeah, please, please check out the drifter. It's really fucking cool. And the game goes on like two weeks. So I was going to, I was going to say to Aaron, something was brought up to me last night. So Dalo had a chance to go to the, um, the con that happened here in, in Edmonton a couple of weeks ago. Yeah. And there's a bunch of game developers there and he was checking out their booths. One of them is from Edmonton, very small development team. And they have a game coming out called forge of the Fae.

[01:22:09] And look this shit up, man. Look this. So this, I live in Edmonton. So this is where I live. Um, I'm going to try to contact this developer and see if data, data dying wants to come on the show. Um, so I hope you hear this. Uh, I live in your town, man. Um, this, this, this is a great one. Yeah. Very sea of stars looking. So yes, absolutely.

[01:22:37] My buddy made a, he, when he's, as soon as he seen it, he was like, holy shit, this looks a lot like breath of fire. And the, the, the dev that was there was like, fuck yeah, dude. No, but not a lot of people pick up on that, but that's the shit. That's what this is fucking about. Yeah. Yeah. It, uh, this looks wild and then there's a free demo right now. So go check it out. Uh, I had followed, uh, I'd follow them on Twitter, blue sky. One of the socials. I will probably Twitter at the time. Uh, it is great.

[01:23:07] So the guys are a six one indie. They do an awesome showcase twice a year. Jesus guys take a fucking nap. I love you guys, but go to sleep. Um, but two showcase two, three showcases ago. Uh, the bit became, I guess when I met them, I would react to the showcases. I'm like, I love indie games. Uh, and then as I'm watching thing after thing, after thing, I'm like, oh, it's this game. Oh, I love this game. I'm so excited for this game. Like, why does this motherfucker know every game that's in our showcase? We thought this was like a world premiere, but he knows all of them. Uh, so like next year we got him.

[01:23:37] He'll have no idea. And they end their show with like, this is forge the Fae. We have a trailer and everything. I'm like, oh, cool. It's forge of the Fae. And I got a text. Like, what the fuck do you mean? You know what this is? This game doesn't have nothing but a logo. How do you know what this game is? How do you know? I'm sorry. I saw them on, on social media. They had not like a trailer, but they would put like their screenshots of the progress. I'm like, oh, cool. Very sea of stars. They put out their pixel art and stuff like this is sick. I'm very excited to see this game. Like come out. So when I saw the trailer, I was like, oh guys, the game I'm excited for. And then I get yelled at by Kyle. Like, why do you know all the games?

[01:24:07] I'm like, I'm sorry. I just, I like any games. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to, I'm going to reach out to these guys and fuck. I'll see if they want to go for a beer for fuck's sakes. Do it. Hell yeah. You'll let them know CJ and people will review you. Yeah. Like when, uh, when, uh, when my buddy was like, dude, you got to check out this game that I seen at, at the con. And I was like, oh yeah. And he was like, yeah, it's made in like, it's the team is in Edmonton. And I was like, oh shit. And then, then I started to like, I'm like, wow, that's cool. Like something finally from Edmonton. He's like, dude, come on.

[01:24:36] And fucking Bioware is from Edmonton. Like Bioware, the, it's like right there. We can fucking see their office. It's like right there. Yeah. Knock on their door and be like, Hey, um, you guys got any more of those good games? The ones that you guys used to make more of them KOTORS. Dude. Speaking of convention, like I think it was not last weekend, but the weekend before the,

[01:25:04] the wife and I took our littlest son to this like Pokemon convention thing at some hotel in Des Moines. And we were like, oh, this will be fun. Like he, he's starting to like Pokemon. Maybe he'll get some cards. This will be cool. It was pretty much like all cards. Explain the smell. It was bad. It was pretty bad, man. I'm not going to lie. It was a hot Iowa day. Oh no. Like the hotel room that the convention was in.

[01:25:34] Was very close to where the door is. And of course you got all that hot air from the door coming in. So the whole room was like, not very well, uh, ventilated. Uh huh. It was just, I don't think the people are well ventilated either. No, not at all. Yeah. It was like, it was all bathed. No, not at all. Or wealth. Yeah. So just, just thank your fucking lucky stars that it wasn't a Yu-Gi-Oh! convention. Oh God. That would have been something. Then.

[01:26:05] No, but yeah. It was. You would have come home with Ebola. Like, let's bring it back. Oh, I wish. You would have came home with Ebola. Fuck. We thought it was going to be more like, um, any more than just Pokemon cards, but it was literally like all Pokemon cards. There was like some booth that was selling freeze dried candy, which was really good. But yeah, just shit tons of Pokemon cards. Is that why you messaged me dude freeze dried candy is so good? Yeah. I was like, what the fuck? What a random ass thing to get a test about.

[01:26:35] Yeah, man. It was nice. But yeah. So there was one booth that was selling, um, uh, what's the grading, the company that grades shit VG, whatever. Uh, uh, or WADA. WADA. TSA. Oh, those fucking clowns. There was a shit ton of like graded Pokemon cards. TSA. TSA. I was thinking PSA. It's just like guy patting you down on me and like, I would give this about four chrono triggers out of chrono. He's got a gun.

[01:27:05] No stars. But yeah, there was, there was a shit ton of graded cards and they were all as you would expect completely overpriced to like, like there was one that was like $675. And I looked at it like, look, the listeners, my eyes were darting back and forth. Cause that's just absurd. No one's going to pay $600 for a fucking card. You're insane. No one. Okay. No. Someone out there did. I hope not. I hope not.

[01:27:35] Logan Paul. He did. And then he made it into a coffee table or whatever. Yeah, he fucking did, man. What a fucking lunatic. Not my money. Fucking guy. Oh, I wish I had enough money like that to just, if I had Logan Paul money, I would buy a, like a complete box copy of Panzer Dragoon saga. Okay. A complete box copy of earth bound. And I would frame them. I would frame them, put them right on top of my mantle.

[01:28:03] And I would sit there with like a glass of scotch. Like, ah, it's good to have land. Yeah. I wish I had Logan Paul money. I don't have a lot of things. I'm like, I got to buy. Like, I like shit. So I'm sure I'd find things to buy. But like the first thing I'm like, if I had Logan Paul money, I would get those fucking monster hunter stories in me, but that the only release in Japan and they're so fucking expensive. Those and the box boy one. Cause those are, I think the only amoeba I'm missing current.

[01:28:33] Like, damn. That box boy one is so, I remember in my whole, my whole stint of collecting amiibos, you can see maybe like a few right there, but yeah, the box boy one, I looked up a couple times for one of those and like, Oh God, if you don't have like 300 bucks or probably more than that now, like that shit's nuts. That is right.

[01:29:01] It's the saddest part of the episode, but it is the most generous. You know what it is. It's the random recommend data games. This is when we tell you these are our seal of approval games that we think are worth your time right now. This instant, stop what you're doing by these games. Just like I did. You know, I bought peak just like that. That's, that's a perfect example of random recommendations. You know what? We tell you these things. We expect you to fucking buy them.

[01:29:29] So stop fucking around and fucking buy the goddamn games. All right. No, we're fucking Danny. Danny, tell the listeners, stop fucking around and buy a game of your choice. I didn't come in prepared for this. I wasn't told that doesn't mean I don't have a list. There's a list. Anything that right now you're like, you know what? You should be playing this. You guys should be playing 2023 game of the year.

[01:29:59] It should have been dredge. Dredge. Ooh. We've heard that. Dredge is so fucking fantastic. Yep. God, I love dredge so much. I lost so many hours to this game. I'm like time to go to bed. Just kidding. What if I went fishing for another four hours? Just kidding. What if I went and visit this brand new island? I can't get in there because I need this new item. Okay. Well, how do I go to the other side of the map? I could sail over there real quick. I have to go back to where I was. I have to get night. I could do that real quick. I spent hours upon hours of sailing in this, this fucking ship.

[01:30:26] Well, I'm fucking falling asleep in game where it's like you haven't slept all night. You're seeing monsters. I think Cthulhu is going to get you. I'm like, he can't get me. Tendu comes out of the water. I'm like, okay, he might be able to get me, but Gizzy, then I go take a nap. You can't get me Cthulhu. It's, it's such a fun time sink. All the DLC I believe is out now. The iron rig, the pale reach. Uh, was there another one? Maybe it's just this too. I feel like it was a third one. Um, DLC is awesome. I like it.

[01:30:55] Just there's more to do and more to fish and more to explore. If you love the resident evil inventory system of rotate Tetris pieces. So they all fit in a box together. That's your entire ship is like put the stuff in. Um, but like, sometimes you'll bump into something which will knock fish out of your ship. So it's like, oh, I lost things. So be not reckless. Uh, if you driver our sail around too long, like fish will go bad because they're not kept in like cool storage, but you want to go sell them to make money to buy upgrades for your ship. You can paint your ship blue. I painted mine blue. It was great.

[01:31:23] Uh, I love dredge dredges is phenomenal. I think everyone should play dredge. Hell yeah. I think dredges on game pass, right? Uh, maybe I bought it twice. I couldn't tell you. I'm going to check. Cause I feel like it, it just got added like recently. Yeah. It's in game pass. So you know what? Let's stop fucking around. There's no excuse to not play dredge. And this is like the third. I'm pretty sure this is like the third time we've had this as a random recommended game. Yeah. Okay. Take it back.

[01:31:53] Let's go with death store instead. Amazing game devolver digital. You play as a crow grim reaper. That's all you need to know. Yeah. Kick ass. I love that game. Death store. Playtime is over. God damn it. Speaking of time playing stars in time. That's an amazing. You like earthbound. It's not exactly earthbound, but it's got the style of it. Really? Bits and pieces. The combat does like a rock, paper, scissors thing. So it is the, like the screen format is very earthbound, but you have like your character at the bottom. You have everyone on the screen.

[01:32:23] Um, but all the enemies you see, like they're holding their hands in very particular ways. They might be like, Hey, you kids like, Oh, he's doing rocks. So I want to use characters that have paper power. Really? Right. Yes. Like that's the combat. But then the whole thing, if you play death loop, you know, it's not a roguelike, but narratively you're looping through time in stars in time. It's like, I don't know how many games supposed to get, but you guys let me ramble on indies. That's your fault. Um, but you're playing as like the trap master and you get into this, you're playing as a D and D party on the way to their final mission.

[01:32:52] We're going to take on the big bad. Uh, and once you go in a giant boulder comes in and lands on you and you die, but you restart the day and it's the first time you've ever died. So you're like, what just happened? What is this game called again? In stars and time. It's Oh, I've got this wish list that actually, yes, it's so fucking good. Adding to my wish list. I cried. You know what? You cried from play along podcast. Oh my God. Like a fucking baby. God damn. I love it.

[01:33:18] It's so, it is so welcoming in terms of like, uh, um, if you have identity crisis, uh, sexual identity, like there's a self doubt, like every kind of thing can be covered in this game. Uh, just depending how you choose to look at it. Some are far more like in your face. This is what this person is going through, but like without spoiling towards the end, there's like a big, like, okay, we're about to actually beat the game, but you have your party moments. Like you're talking to everybody and everyone has their in-depth conversations with you.

[01:33:46] And the one character has the, like, Hey, like I, I had nothing. I needed you for all. I saw was you hanging out with everyone else. I'm like, fuck. I really want to hang out with the main character. I just wanted to be like, I just wanted to. And like, it's so much deeper than that. And then you have this whole fucking watching the stars moment. I was fucking bawling and crying. And I wanted to give this little pixel art character a hug. It is such a fun game. Not enough.

[01:34:12] They, uh, uh, insert disc, uh, just announced a new game, uh, which I forget. It's a game about scrapbook. Let's be a good one. Truth scrapper is the new one. Uh, yeah. Truth scrappers are like the other name. I like scrapbook lesbians. I think that's the better. Yeah. That's the plot. If you want to know it's, it's toxic lesbians and you're, you're building a scrapbook. Uh, and as you go through, you kind of choose a path and one's like, you should do this. You should do this. You kind of choose which toxic lesbians more your speed and you go that route. So, uh, it's really dope.

[01:34:41] I say that is toxic plays at least once. Listen, probably not. I'm sure they can't afford that. But, um, yeah, if you, time is magical. If you're in the fucking like earthbound style, uh, you should absolutely be checking out knuckle sandwich. That's on the list. I haven't gotten, I forget, I forget what came out the same time it did, but it was weird and whack and so much fun. Knuckle sandwich is on the wishlist. It is on the wishlist. Yeah. So that's when I got to get to. Yeah.

[01:35:10] Right now I'm going to make you buy a game right now. It's on sale right now. It's on the steam summer sale and it's called look outside. It is a fucking horror top down RPG in the style of earthbound. Okay. Oh, look at you. What is it called again? Don't look outside. Oh, look outside. Survival horror RPG set in a single apartment building. A mysterious event turns anyone who looks outside the window into grotesque monsters. Look at those reviews. Look at those reviews.

[01:35:40] Overwhelmingly positive. Look at that. This just came out. Yeah. I highly want you to check this shit out. I want this. This looks sick. It's 20% off right now. Yeah. Go now. Stop fucking around Danny. Buy the game. I'm not playing. I'm not playing. I'm not playing. What else is in my cart? Oh yeah, things in the cart. And that's not even my random recommended game. My random recommended game is La Lumana.

[01:36:10] La Lumana. What? Wait, did I say that right? La Mulana. La Mulana. Yeah. I had a little bit of a little thing going on with my mouth. Stop working. La Mulana. I'd heard a few times that this is like considered one of the best Metroidvanias of all time. And I was like, really? This game? Like I've heard of this game, but like I always heard such good things about it. And I was like, yeah, whatever. Like there's so many Metroidvanias.

[01:36:39] Jesus Christ. I started playing this game. Not only is this game fucking, it does not give a fuck about your feelings. This game is brutally difficult. Oh, fun. But fair. It's that, it's that type of difficult where you're like, that's on me. I could have been better. I could have been better there.

[01:37:00] But the way this game has puzzles is different from any Metroidvania I've ever played. So for starters, the controls are more geared towards old Castlevania, not new Castlevania. It feels a little stiff. Okay. Like when you jump, you can't just jump in an arc. Okay. You have to jump and like you sort of move ahead a little bit. It's a little stiff.

[01:37:28] Your whip doesn't really have a lot of reach. And it's the puzzles though. You get into this giant ruins that has like all these different like biomes and areas. But the puzzle aspect of it, and I don't really want to say too much about the puzzles because if anybody wants to check this game out, part of what grabbed me so much is how, how you have to really think outside the box or the puzzles. As an example, I'll just say this one.

[01:37:56] Cause this one really frustrated me for a while. There was a point in time where like I had to, I can't remember the exact situation, but I had to open up the pause menu, which is you're using a laptop. Your character uses a laptop for the pause menu. So that's how like you go in and check your emails that you get from like different people. And you can also like add memory modules, which could be like, oh, this memory module allows you to translate like the different inscriptions on tombstones or something.

[01:38:27] So I had a point where I was like, man, I need to open up the pause menu. But like I was in this new area and I was like, what the fuck? What is wrong with my controller? Like since I've been here, I haven't been able to open the fucking pause menu. Turns out you have to find an upgrade or no, you have to buy an upgrade at one of the shops back at the main town. That's a cover for your laptop that makes it waterproof so that you can open it when you're in water. Cause you can't do that.

[01:38:56] So like weird shit like that, where I was like, fucking seriously, I got to get a goddamn laptop case. And that's just like the tip of the iceberg. Like think that, but like it gets way more intricate and you constantly have to think outside the box. And like, that's what pushes the game forward is the puzzles. It's not like combat and leveling up and getting like cool new weapons and shit.

[01:39:22] It's about like, it's, it has that Indiana Jones feel to it. Like it feels like, I don't know. It's, it's got a different feel. And I highly encourage anybody who likes a Metroid mania to go play this. Cause this is for sure, without a doubt, one of the greats. It's just very difficult. Hell yeah. Very difficult. Very, very, very difficult. Very difficult. Yeah. My, uh, my random recommended game.

[01:39:50] So you're all talking about, uh, uh, earthbound, like RPGs. I've got like an earthbound, like RPG, a little bit of horror to it. It's called Undertale. A little note jam called Deltarune. Deltarune. No, it's. Dude, I still gotta play that one. No. Me too. I know. It's a, it's a Mori. Um, I really, really love this game. Oh, okay. That's a Mori. It's awesome. So it's, so it takes place in, in kind of two places.

[01:40:15] Like, um, during the day you play as Sonny and, um, you're, he's going through some shit in his life. I don't want to say too much because there's, there's a lot of shit that happens. I don't want to spoil the story, but yeah, he's going through some shit. He's really, really, he's a sad boy. Really sad. A lot of scary, spooky shit happens because of how sad he is.

[01:40:35] And then, uh, at night when he goes to sleep, you'll be in the dream world and you'll be with your friends and you're going through all these wacky adventures in the dream world. Um, trying to find your friend Basil and, and just all sorts of just wacky shit happens. Like you ride this, uh, this moon man all over hell. That's your fast travel guy. The combat revolves around emotions. Like there's a happy, sad, angry, and neutral.

[01:41:03] And it, it's got like a rock, paper, scissors kind of effect to it. Yeah. Where like, um, happy is like, you'll have more speed, but less defense. Um, sad is more defense, less attack. And then angry is more attack, less defense. And the neutral is just whatever. And then each of your four party members specialize in different things. Like, um, Sonny is, or not Sonny, um, Kel, he's like faster. He uses a ball to attack and he'll do, he can do like elemental damage and shit like that.

[01:41:33] But the, the, the story, like at first you're, it raises a lot of questions. Like what the fuck is happening? Like, I need to play more to figure out what the fuck is happening. And as you learn more and more about Sonny and like the shit that's happening with his group of friends, it gets real sad and emotional. And like by the end, especially if you get the good ending, it, it hits you so close to home, man. It's I've heard that this game is fucked up people. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:42:03] It's one that's on the list of like those indie list of shames. I haven't played this one yet. And it's in the backlog somewhere. I just haven't got around to it. It's so fucking good, man. It'll only take you. It's a, it's an RPG, but it's only about maybe 25, 20 hours. It's not very long at all. And the art style, dude, it's so good. The music is really fucking good too. Oh yeah. Yeah.

[01:42:25] Nice, nice, nice, nice. And that's it. Yeah. That's it. That's all she wrote. Cut. Murder. I'm going to be on Instagram, YouTube, Twitch and tick tock. I'm talking all things indie gaming.

[01:42:54] Again, you can find me on play log podcast that drops every Thursday. And you can find me doing a bunch of TTRPG stuff, which I'm posting about in my discord or on social media. I got monster of the week coming up. We got tails, the valiant. We have our brutal ruin. I think is the name of the systems. We did fall out a bunch of fun shit. We love TTRPGs and I'm getting really good at it. And people are like, oh my God, look at the way you act. You should be an actor. I'm like, oh, stop. You can't do this. You want to see me? I'm about to make the group cry. I don't know if it's this week.

[01:43:24] It might be next week, but it's going to happen. We're going to see some reveals that I know they're going to cry about it. So tails, the valiant. Be sure to check out one out. But yeah, see you Danny B everywhere. Come follow me. Hell yeah, dude. Thanks for coming on doing this. This is a lot of fun. Of course. This is a lot of fun, man. That's it. That's everybody.
